Currency.
Will there only be gold or will it be more akin to games like dragon age (excl. DA:I) where you have gold.silver.copper?

Geez, I hope not. Unnecessary math.

There's no use for having multiple types of coin. Right now they only have gold, similar to Divinity 2.

D&D has copper, silver, gold, electrum and platinum coins. They might have dropped electrum, it was a little silly.

If Larian doesn't include these other coins, they're not being true to D&D or Faerun.

Do you actually play and explore the entirety of the Act 1?
They exist already in BG3, but as currency, no...gold is fine.
Check out the Zhentarim Hideout, among other areas that have such coins just laying around.

while D&D has gold copper silver plat, for the most part the math is always just done in gold, so it really impacts nothing if you just use gold as the currency

Unnecessary and this doesn't need to be a feature in game. Gold as a standard for streamlining transactions is perfectly fine.

Surprise, surprise...I wonder how often this phrase is going to pop up.
I mean if that's a problem for you then feel free to tell the audience what gameplay purpose having multiple forms of currency would do?

Totally fine ignoring CP and SP for the most part. 99% of the stuff you're likely to buy and use is done in GP anyway.

The prior BG games, as well as...pretty much every D&D game released afterwards did the same because it was largely pointless extra fluff currency that means close to nothing to most adventurers.

ToEE implemented multiple currencies, didn't it?

It's in the game, there's a room where you pick up a bunch of assorted coin types off a table.

Also, this is totally off topic but to the OP: Dragon Age only uses one currency, too.

There's no point in diluting currency solely for the sake of currency dilution.

This isn't going shopping at a 7/11 and needing to get $4.73 in exact change, it's a game.

Needless complexity is a waste of both developer and player time.

What I find funny though is that those coins don't actually function as currency. You can sell the platinum coin.... for one gold. lol

Unless currency has weight, we don't need silver, copper, or plat. I mean, if we're gonna have all the types of coins, we might as well add gems and jewelry to the mix like old school goldbox D&D games.

Gold in this game actually does have weight. But you have to have a lot of it in order to notice the difference.

That explains why I never noticed.
