Stuttering/very slow gameplay
I am trying to figure out why with a Rtx 2070 super gpu and a SSD hard disk I am having, every now and then, the following issue: the game is so laggy that becomes unplayable, the mouse indicator moves slowly and the only way to solve this is to load a previous save (losing all the progress I made). This is very bothering and It makes me wanna stop playing until it's fixed. I don't know if this is a problem on my end or it's a common issue.

Both Vulkan and Direct X11 have this issue

same. I was doing vulkan at first then noticed the fps drops in high density areas then switched to dx11 and was like okay, its better by 5fps I suppose. still lagy though

Thanks, at least it's not just me experiencing this problem :)

Same thing happening to me on a rtx 2060 since the last update. Only way I've been able to fix it is to keep changing random settings and relaunching the game. FPS will drop like crazy just moving the camera around and freeze constantly. When the game decides to work it runs almost like a dream. It'll even do it in the main menu as well.

Having the same sort of issues here, not quite to the level of "literally unplayable" but pretty bloody close.

My rig:
i7 6700k @ 4 Ghz
32G of RAM
1080Ti
game is installed to a SSD

P.S. This Redditor may be a bloody genius, I have tried their suggestion and it seems to be helping.

I find an issue with 2 games, when you get inconsistent fps, make sure to minimise your background app. the Larian launcher, don't just leave it be after you hit play. alt tab and make sure it's minimized. The "Flash" components run during gameplay when not minimised and hich your fps every *animation pulse* I experience the same issue with Bnet launcher that sometimes pops up on it's own in the background.

I have only experienced the major stuttering and FPS drop once on a 1080 by moving the camera around too fast. I'm running on Vulkan. Since then I have been more careful. Also make sure your drivers are up to date. A friend of mine didn't and that fixed almost all of his graphical glitches.

I have a I7 4700K
16gig DDR 3 Ram
1080 Gtx 8gig
Installed on a Mechanical Drive

I currently run the game on Max Graphics 4k with mostly no issues.

Seems to me like it's good for like an hour or so then gets laggy. Have keep giving it breaks to get full power back. The game doesn't like it much when moving your camera around the map far away from your characters. The more I do that the faster it begins to lag. DOS2 did same thing to me after hitting act 2. Though not as bad

I found out why the game was so laggy for me. It's because I had razor cortex running (it helps to manage the ram memory while playing). I unistalled it and now the game runs smoothly, except for some bugs every now and then, but nothing serious.

Literally the same issue I have, I understand that the game is in early access, but it's pretty unplayable atm .

Sounds like a memory issue if stuttering is fixed by reloading. Probably a memory leak, I also crash from time to time, but I have 32 gb ram so it probably takes longer and I've gotten into the habit now of saving and restarting after about 4 hours gameplay.

Ryzen 5 3600x, 32 3000 ram with rx 580 8gb strix on a B550 aorus elite. Was thinking of getting the new 3080, but it seems the hardware for them is faulty so waiting for the go ahead.

the whole game is a stutterfest on my 5years old mid-range rig ;)

literally gotta make an effort to powerthrough the sluggishness - no matter the settings.
waiting for the 3080 to be less of a myth to upgrade the whole thing ; its overdue.

No worries guys. I've got the same problem with huge fps drops. Rarely I get a consistent 60 fps. I run it on RTX 2080TI and 32 RAM. Vulcan doesn't work properly for me as it looks like it doesn't run in the correct resolution(and looks like there's no antialiasing) - very low FPS as well. I have to run it on DX11 and it's ok but still huge FPS drops(especially around the house on fire)
