Uninstalled: I've had enough
This game is a huge failure in my eyes. Some of this is my fault for accepting this Larian format with the stolen name. The fights are so idiotic as to make the game unplayable for me. Every goblin is a juggernaut of god like power. There are dozens and dozens of functions and parameters you have to calculate like Einstein against what is essentially Stockfish chess super computer but instead of chess it's AI for your enemies. The dice rolls not only make the combat totally unwinnable without grotesque abuse of the reload button, but in fact the rolls are anything but random. You will often find yourself sacrificing your attack rolls - totally outnumbered by enemies with up to 8 times your hit points mind you - in order to "turn on the lights" or jump multiple times to get within range of an enemy that does not have to follow the same rules as you. As with all Larian games you're always scaredy hiding and fleeing in absolute terror for your life as the fight sequences drag on for hours and hours. There is absolutely no possible way to know what enemies you will face, where they will be, what options they will have and what the topography and lighting will be. The fighting is so catastrophically unwinnable, so time consuming, so complex that any concept of momentum or enjoying the adventure or story are completely lost. I paid 60 bucks for this game. I played 2 Larian games before this and Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are my favorite games of all time. This is a steaming pile of garbage. I've never uninstalled a game from Steam before. This is the final straw for me with Larian. You're turning a beautiful genre into some kind of slow roll Fortnite FPS game. Good luck Larian. I'm done with your games.

It's almost like you're a low level character thrust into a unknown dangerous environment. Woah sorry if that was too real for you, and please don't say "I PAID 60 BUCKS FOR THIS GAME, THIS GAME IS HORRIBLE" when its in early access and when Larian made it very clear that the game is not finished, changes to mechanics are bound to happen. So instead of being a 12 year old kid provide some actually useful feedback on what you think Larian could change to make the game better

It's so frustrating when you suck at a game

I was a low level character in BG1 too. That game was beautiful in every way. This is a complete waste of time.

Yeah, or when you're not a 13 year old playing a game your mom bought you for making your bed last week.

They will be adding more difficulty settings before full release. The Early Access difficulty setting is fixed as "Classic" which assumes that players are comfortable with the D&D 5e ruleset. That said, based on D:OS2 experience, full release is likely a year away!

Are there even any games with that rule set? The problem is it seems they tried to make a blend of Larian and BG rules and options which turned out to be insanely too hard. There's too much reliance on dice rolls and it comes across to me like Wizards of the Sword Coast only gave Larian the rights to this game to pump their latest set of rules. Which would explain why that was the focus when nobody is buying the game for the rules but for the fun.

Try sneak bow, very OP.

Also if you want extra easy, you can knockout merchants and pickpocket all loot.

To be fair, characters in BG1 missed all the time as well. It was just faster, so you didn't notice as much.

I am genuinely sorry that you dont like this game as I have to say it has been such a joy for me to play. I am not being sarcastic or trying to be condescending but did you play DOS 2? did you enjoy that? I found that to much harder than this. I play DOS on classic but with lots of mods to make it a bit easier for me, with this I feel like its the perfect balance of challenge vs enjoyment. I will say, it is a game that definitely involves strategy and requires some out of the box thinking with some fights. Definitely use the environment to your advantage and make sure as you gain companions that you are bringing along a diverse group. I hope you reconsider! while some people may just say "get Gewd" and stuff, I would be happy to provide tips if you're stuck on any particular fight.

Yeah, and Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 weren't, you know, turn based ... like Dungeons and Dragons is. Also they're using DND 5E which is ALOT better than ADND

Did you even play BG1 or 2? You can do your "fan boy" rant like the other kiddos but the reality is some of us have jobs, son. We don't care enough about this game or the characters to invest that kind of time for little to no satisfaction. I get that you might not have much else in the way of talents and maybe you need video games to feel like you;re overcoming challenges in life. For most of us we're looking for an escape from the drudgery of work life. Games are supposed to be fun. This game is not. IMHO
Ouchie I'm hurt please stop ;n;

I think the misses were proportionate in BG1 and 2 though. These die rolls are certainly not random. They're influenced by things the game makers put in there to take away your attack rolls like low lights or low ground. The fights were no were near as obtrusive and lasted literally seconds or minutes. These fights can take 45 minutes and that's if you win the 1st time, which you won't. I can't imagine how awful this must be for the people who hate "save scumming." Personally I have no issue with reloads. This game is simply not fun. Like, at all.

BG1 has a bear outside the tutorial area that can TPK you if you decide to explore the whole map before moving on to where you're supposed to. This game has a lot of things wrong with it and to improve on - difficulty never seemed to be an issue (and this is from a run that enacted a no-parley policy with Gobbos).

I think the highest hp a goblin has in this game is 15. So unless you're running an 8 Con Wizard I don't see how you're being swarmed by enemies with more HP than you. Ultimately, it's up to you if you're looking for a convincing or if you want to vent that's fine too.

This game isn't for the week minded. This game has a lot of planning a head to get things right, you can even beat the hardest opponent if you plan it right.
