Githyanke actively hunt down mind flayers and bring back their heads as part of their culture. They once formed one group with the githzarie but the two split over ideological differences and are stuck in a civil war with them powered by hatred.
Githyanke made a deal with Tiamat, so she lets them ride red dragons until the dragon becomes an adult.
That’s actually unknown.
Their first leader, Gith, had gone into Avernus to seek an audience with Tiamat and never returned. Instead a delegation of red dragons showed up and said that the red dragons would support them until each dragon became an adult.
Githyanki also don’t age in the astral plane so they have to find a plane to lay their eggs (yes, they do that) and raise their children. Since they have the lifespan of elves their birth rate is also really low.
Their economy is based on raiding the material plane to get what they need.
They are basically the Vikings of the Forgotten Realms but instead of longboats they planeshift and ride dragons.
Don't worry. I'm sure everyone loves creatures from the black lagoon type characters at some point in their lives.
She saved the universe with that action as the Illithids (Mind flayers) one conquered the universe before travelling back in time. This time they got owned by the Gith due to Tiamat giving them a little boost.
Outside of that, seeing I really doubt she would care about anyone else outside her own survival. It allowed her to conquer many lands for the red dragons. The Gith spend most time in the astral anyways, as the material plane makes them age to quickly. So the land conquered mostly goes to the red dragons after the Gith looted it.
The above is just out the top of my head, so take it with a grain of salt.
I'm sure their are loremasters out their who know all the little details.
