What does 1d10 mean?
Can someone explain these numbers and what they mean? Or point me to a useful guide

It means it will roll a die with 10 sides so the result will be 1 - 10.
One roll of a 10 sided dice.
One 10-sided die
1 mean 1 roll. D means dice. 10 mean show many sides.

So 1d10 means 1 roll of a 10 sided dice, a random number between 1-10.

3d6 would mean 3 six sided dice rolled, between 3-18.

1 d(ice) 10, a 10 sided die, so if its a damage dice you can do any damage between 1 and 10(plus mods)
What does it need to succeed then? If it’s a spell?

Oh so it’s how much damage is possible

depends on the spell, it either uses an attack roll (ranged or touch) or it makes a saving throw (your classic fireball), eld blast for warlock is a ranged attack, if it lands, you roll a d10, and you do that damage.

im assuming so, no attack roll uses a d10, so i assume your using a spell that does d10 damage, you'd hjave to tell me

Depends
If it's a spell attack then its your spell attack mod + a roll of a d20 against their AC (Armour class)
So if you were a level 1 wizard with 16 int casting firebolt...

It would be D20 + 5. 16 grants a +3 mod, and your proficiency stacks with your chance to hit, bringing it to +5 to hit.

Most spells will be a spell save. So if it's a spell where they have to roll a save or be affected by your spell, your spell save difficulty is 8 + Proficiency + Int (As a wizard). So 13 in this example.

If it's a con save, the opponent has to get 13 or higher (including their modifier in that stat) to pass the saving throw.

That's the short version.

look up the d20 system.

This is a D&D game using tabletop rules, so everything is based around dice rolls.

d4 = 4 sided dice
d6 = 6 sided
d8 = 8 sided
d10 = 10 sided
d12 = 12 sided
d20 = 20 sided
d100 = 100 sided

1d10 = Roll a 10 sided dice once. For a total range of 1-10.
3d10 = Roll a 10 sided dice three times for a tota range of 3-30.
4d8 = Roll an 8 sided dice for times for a total range of 4 - 32.

It’s easy to figure out at a glance once you’ve gotten used to seeing the number values used in this way. Just think of everything in terms of playing tabletop with dice and it makes more sense.
