Ugly faces

Disappointed by the lack of complex character customisation, and the pre-set faces for males aren't much to look at. Tried making a male human? It's just different shades of ugly.

I am suspecting some slight SJW shenanigans, or maybe we'll get more options when the game is fully released.

Refunding until then.

They used facial scans of real people, but also edited the meshes. Players should have the freedom to edit them in character creation; otherwise, judging by the community screen shots, almost everyone will be using the same 5 faces (or modded ones).

I agree that it's a waste of variety when most of the options look dull.

lol took a IRL person and made them uglier. haven't seen that before....

On the topic, i don't mind the faces. I tend to take like always option 1/default. And with all other option a always find something that fit my idea of a character.
Also character creation in ea, is not the same as release we saw in trailer they have made a new interface, and new body option if nothing else.

Yep most faces are still ugly. Instead of making smooth beautiful faces they make incredibly awful bony misshapen messes. The skin looks like it was stretched thin over a misshapen skull with no fat or other material in between to smooth it out.

Larian clearly wanted the player characters to be ugly because nothing was stopping them from making the options be beautiful other than themselves.

And Larian isn't the only studio to do this. Too many studios have ugly player character faces but nice looking NPC faces with customized vertices.

I do remember a Skyrim mod allowing the player to directly change the face model vertices to remove the glass cutter cheekbone bones and weird craters.

Yeah, some faces are pretty ugly, but it's no problem. This is where mods come in.

I agree with you in a way but to be honest , there is ppl that look very good. They are rare but they exist. I know a few. Id say we can have more "normal" and "better" looking heads , the more the merrier i say.

Oh yeah, more options in a game is always great - and there are some tiny percentage of people that look like the end result of instagram filters.

But thinking almost all normal healthy young women are ugly has to make dating hard, I'd imagine. And that's already tricky enough!

Pretty much my take on this as well.

And some of the faces look fine so unless you play a Hydra and need multiple faces you should be good.

The internet has caused standards (really for anything, not just beauty) to skyrocket everywhere because it is possible to see and/or order "the best" of anything you want online.

Reviews and ratings ensure we are never satisfied unless we get 5/5 stars or nothing at all.
