Class that has pets?
You know, wondering if there are any classes that can tame pets and use it for your advantage. Or have any pets/companions. Beast taming and such

Beastmaster ranger sounds right up your ally and it will be in EA. There are other classes that have pets summons etc but for combat pets that a Beastmaster ranger. They are using a revised ranger so no worry about them being underpowered

Rangers have a Beast Master archetype which might be pretty good with the adjustments they're making in BG3. Based on a screenshot from the most recent community update post, it also looks like one of the things they can pick for their Natural Explorer feature is Beast Taming which seems to function similarly to the find familiar spell from what we've seen in a recent interview.

Oh sweet! Im not more of a ranger but i heard something about beast master. I wasnt sure what that was about. If it was a spell or you can actually tame them.

For EA you can try other than Ranger , warlocks the cleric with animal/nature domain and the wizard for familiars
You can also get a feat for ritual spell casting and pick a list that has the find familiar / companion
You can take a feat that gives you access to spells like magic adept and pick the find familiar spell
You can also pick a race that gives you a feat and do the above for a pet / animal companion

For powerful combat pets/taming its ranger Beastmaster is a subclass of ranger, things like find familier are more simple pets, and then you got summons which are temporary creatures.

Mind you Ranger in 5e doesnt mean bow or ranged, there are plenty of builds that use melee weapons

Oh okay. I was planning to go with Githyanki or a Tiefling race but im leaning more towards Githyanki. Planning to use melee & range combo.

If you want a pet from Level 1, you'll want to play a Wizard with the Find Familiar spell. Rangers and Warlocks has to wait until Level 3 to get a pet, and the level cap in Early Acccess is only 4.

You get Ranger archetypes at Level 3 per 5E rules, unless I missed something about the devs changing it for BG3.
