Unless you sell your soul to devil!
He must return as a Lich to join your party.

Elminster this, Elminster that. Give *me* 2000 years and a pointy hat and I'll kick his arse!

Pretty sure Edwina did get her hands on all sorts of stuff including wish spell or whatever.

It's DnD so you can adapt and his alive... lets just ask DM in this case Larion... so if they want him alive they can do it easy i'm sure and i have low info on Dnd 5e.

I reckon if nothing else he could get Imprisoned, cloned, polymorphed thx to his vast intellect that makes him do stupid things with powerful items scrolls and what not...

EDit: ehm hell you don't even need wish just looked at wizards spells i reckon lvl 6 Magic Jar spell would work as well... just steal bodies left and right? life is easy if you are evil wizard... lol

And no way you don't have potion of youth or something similar in Dnd cos i know how lore works and there is no setting without something like that...
It's as old of a thing as humanity people wanting to live forever so every setting has it in some way or form...

No, but wizards can clone themselves into younger bodies. ;)

Why would a devil give you immortality? They need to collect on that soul at some point!
cos they like you, maybe keep you as slave... or just so they can torture you for ever? any 1000 other evil reason could work as well?

There could be many reasons to do so. There might be a hidden clause in the contract, you could be obligated to help the devil round up other souls to maintain the immortality, or it could be a simple numbers game. On an average human life span most people will not have a fatal accident, but to quote a good movie, on a long enough timespan everyones survival rate drops to zero. ;)

That kind of thing draws the attention of Inevitables, though. Not to mention pissing off Kelemvor, on whose bad side you REALLY don't want to be.

Sure but there are spells to avoid detection as well. Make sure you are hard to find, dont stay close to anyone mentioning the name of the deity you wish to avoid, or perhaps try to find protection by another deity.
DnD gods are not omnicient, and there are many of them with differing ideas of how one should or should not live. If Kelemvor was omnicient and omnipotent the monster manual wouldnt be full of undead creatures.

True that. But then ask yourself: would Edwin/a have been THAT competent?

Manshoon? Is that you?

But seriously though, don't clone yourself. Making a simulacrum is where it's at.

How does the simulacrum prevent you from dying? I'd say use a Astral Projection and then cast a Time Stasis on your true body. You'd need to find some way of protecting it though.

Naw naw naw. Lich is the way to go.
Put some extra points in illusion so you don't scare the peasants.

Must admit its one of the reasons the new Kingmaker game sounds really epic.
