Pacifist Run?
I would like to RP a pacifist. D&D is all about player choice and creative problem solving. Anyone hear yet if a pacifist run will be supported?

I havent heard any news on this but it sounds like a fun idea. Would you consider using utility spells like invisibility or darkness to escape conflict?

Probably going to be determined by whether or not you can stealth/magic around all of the combat encounters.

Given that you face Illithids, I would doubt that you will be able to avoid every combat encounter.

Of course. I would even consider incapacitating someone temporarily if absolutely necessary and violence couldn't be avoided (bad dice rolls).

I think even "mandatory" boss battles could have dialog/distraction/bribary/imprisonment/etc. as alternate non-lethal solutions.

In a D&D session anyone with an ounce of creativity can solve problems without killing things. Would be nice if the game designers didn't put in any binary "must kill x" to advance logic in the game.

If I could play like Xan the Enchanter personality style I would give it a go.

It's called playing a Bard and it's how Dragonborn are made lol.

That attempt is vain. Life is so hollow so what would be the point? Maybe the other party members can make things work out but that is highly unlikely. lol.

I LOVE Xan. He's like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, only a powerful elven mage.

pacifist runs are fun and rewarding but gonna be hard to sneak past everything when your companions arent built for it

I always had him in the party, his name should have been "forever depressed" hahahahhahaha.

I usually struggle to get him in the party because if I'm doing an evil run I usually have Edwin by the time I meet Xan and if I'm doing a good run and I haven't found a way to get Xynaheir killed or removed for Minsc then I don't need two mages in the party.

But yes, he's a fun character to have.

A stealthy pacifist is often a lonely lifestyle. I prefer a rely on my wits and ubsurdly high charisma to get me through most scrapes :steamhappy:

BG3 is probably too long for this kind of stuff. They are trying to get 100 hour, one could imagine its pretty big task to turn it into pacifist. Ive said to them they should go with shorter story so more fun they could get out of it. Longer isnt always better, replay is more fun. Replay the game as evil, or good, or with female only chars, or pacifist, or solo or take couple bards with you and laugh through the story etc.

If you're going pacifist, what do you need companions for?

think the game forces you in the starting area to have a party so it can introduce the companions
