Demon identity
I don't know much about the lore of D&D but I was reading the wiki and took a look at the gods/demons.
Anyone think Gargauth could be the demon making the offer to help the characters?

Suppose it really could be anyone at this point but he was the most charming devil don't you agree?

I agree. I found it really charismatic. Like a true devil should be :)

I don't know if I would like the Devil to be someone known in the lore, or a whole new character.

The first solution would be cool, because that mean someone really important is interested in you - which is flattering. But this mean people able to recognize this character can guess ahead of time why he does what he does.

The second solution would allow the writers to have complete freedom about the character.

Freedom for the devs is great and DOS proves they got the talent for dealing with the new. If I am correct then even if you know the lore about this guy they will probably take the story in a way you won't be able to guess which is always good. The lore says Gargauth has a lot of other devils that don't like him and they worked together to stop him gaining power, even if you know him there is know way to know who else may show up.
