Baldur's Gate 3

Statistiche:
What class will you play ?
Just curious :)

I'll probably go with a wizard. Magic seemed pretty sick in the demos.

EDIT : non-EA/full-release classes are valid too :)

I will play my Wizard as a LE Shadovar from the city of Shade. My character will be named ????? Tanthul and worship Shar. As I doubt they will have the Shadow Weave in the game I will just have to say that is where my magic is coming from. Whenever I get the game that is.

Probably fighter
I don't what I play as long as its chaotic
The two classes I want to play are Bard and Monk but they are not EA launch classes.. Maybe druid or rogue?
A polearm fighter; A sorcerer (although I've heard they're underpowered?); Warlock(Great Old One).

Since I know very little about D&D class set ups and what not, how does Paladin stack up to what you just described here? I tend to go more defensive route either something akin to a tank or as a defensive supporter. I know cleric can do some of that as well and I'll be testing that in the EA, but I really love the Paladin class in other fantasy games and was curious how that role works in D&D.

Paladins are a solid class, but I'd personally put them down as more of a buff/debuff class, with minor healing and some very solid damage dealing.

Paladins get auras as they level up that just naturally get better and are passive, and their lay-on-hands is very, very versatile and not just for healing.

Paladins are totally a versitile class, and more then anything a tactical nuke. With their wide array concentration spells mixed with their smites they can very easily out damage anyone else on a whim. Combined with lay on hands for very good utility and aura's based on your oath and you can go from a frontline beef cake to the definition of a glass canon.
For those curious how paladins can be so strong in the damage department, it's because of their Divine Smite ability. At level 2 they get access to spellcasting and Divine Smite. After hitting with a melee attack, they can choose to spend one of their spell slots to make that hit a smite, dealing extra radiant damage. If they spend a 1st level spell slot, the additional radiant damage is 2d8 damage and an additional 1d8 radiant damage if the enemy hit is undead or a fiend. The extra damage increases to 3d8 for a 2nd level spell, 4d8 for a 3rd level spell, and 5d8 for a 4th level spell or higher. These dice also get doubled when they crit, so it's not uncommon for paladins to save spells to smite when they crit. So if a paladin using a greatsword (2d6 damage) hits an undead, crits, and smites with a 4th level spell slot, that's 4d6 + 12d8 damage (16-120 damage) and, in the immortal words of Phil Swift, "That's a lot of damage!"

*laughs in Inflict Wounds*

Cleric spell doing 3d10 Necrotic damage at 1st level slot, +1d10 for each spell level slot above 1st.
Yeah, Inflict wounds is pretty nasty. Had a game where the cleric in the group crit with an upcast Inflict wounds and it wound up doing close to 70 damage to the mini-boss we were fighting, taking him out in one shot (we were level 5 and it was a caster type). Problem is that you have to hit with it or else you just wasted a spell slot. Paladins only use spell slots for smite when they hit.
tbh i wanna be a succubus hhhhh im a guy lmao :steamhappy:

Selim, the Succubus (male)
Looks like I am going to play my bard as a rogue. Arcane trickster.
Easy choice - duo with my Brothe as iconic Troll Assassin and Halfling Berserker...old Role Playing meme of ours :)

Been kicking around ideas for a Strength Ranger, which might be pretty fun with potential Beast Master tweaks.

I'm a min/maxxer so this is what I did.
I actually played a strength based ranger in 5E, Mountain dwarf, started with 17 str and 16 con(used the standard array), BG3 is point buy. Then at 4th level took the feat heavily armored, to be able to use heavy armor, plus you get +1 strength. Then when in the fight I was dual wielding and casting hunters mark, hunters mark is an extra d6 PER hit.
So at 4th level
1st round - bonus action - cast hunters mark then swing(battle axe)
1d6+2d8+4=7-26 point of damage (the 2nd d8 is for colossus slayer in the hunter archetype)
2nd round use bonus action to swing with the other arm
2d6+3d8+8=13-44 points of damage.

It started to level out at about level 7, so you might want to add in something else to get more damage.

BG3 is point buy
Has this been confirmed? I'm not really a min/maxxer, but point buy is a lot harder on some classes than others. Wizards only really need intelligence, but dex and con just make things better. Paladins, rangers, and monks on the other hand, they rely heavily on three stats, so they're gonna be a fair bit weaker than even just classes that only rely on two stats.

Would be much better to just use what BG1&2 use. Just let us roll ourselves.

Or even what IWD2 uses. Similar to point buy, but you can reduce stats to under 10 if you wish and add them to something else.
