No offence, that doesn't prove ANYTHING lol. So what if "roll20" has 200k 5e players, and 1k 3e, or whatever number they show. 3e is decades old. I would imagine their player base dropped considerably. I truly don't care what WoTC says, in an effort to hype their product "yo guys yall gotta try this, its our most popular ever, it is so wayyyyyy cool yo".
During 3e every comic shop, every sports card store, and numerous other places held WEEKLY, sometimes thrice weekly game nights of DnD. I haven't seen any place offer a regular game night even once a week like that in years. So for me, IDC what Wizards is trying to con people into thinking, there is ZERO chance 5e is selling as much as 3e, if it was why are there about 1/500th the amount of books available? You'd think they'd offer more books if it was so popular wouldn't you? And the arguement "its new" doesn't work, 5e has been out for yeeeeeears.
Sorry bub but 5e is more popular than 3.0/3.5 ever was. I have provided figures to back my claims up, you have provided a personal anecdote. You are not making a stong case for your proposed theory. ^^
Not really true. I mean yes its one of the most versatile races because of the feat, but not every character build relies on stacking feats and if there isnt a feat that does more for you than straight up stats then having a usefull +2 to your main stat instead of +1 and then some other goodies on top of that can be more benificial. Not to mention that some races have perks that are simply stronger with feats or stack with a feat allowing to to scale further. Like if you want to build a speed monster you cant really beat a Tabaxi.
Gnomes, because they get +2 to all attributes if they eat Spaham.
On a serious note.. No such thing as best, it is all about creating a interesting character (sometimes delibrately making a weird, funny or ofc even classic race/class combo, with a suitable personallity for what you want it to be)
Those are all universally very good. For certain subclasses certain races pair extremely well. Example - Abjuration Wizard Mark of Warding Dwarf / Deep Gnome because abilities or spells have synergy with the Arcane Ward. How all this will be handled in game, though....
No half-gith is probably because (to my knowledge) there simply is no such thing in d&d. It could easily be that gith are just a completely different biology and couldn't breed with humans just like a hippo can't breed with a lion. Half dwarves though is a bit harder to explain. Half-dwarves do exist in the Forgotten Realms setting but have not been core to any edition of d&d (I believe they have been added in supplements in some editions, but have never been a player race on release of an edition unlike half-elves).
Plenty of people have actually tried to make Half-Gith´s ie the Haragitu.. But well obviously, these would not make any sense to include here or well even normaly...
