Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3

Statistiche:
The Tiefling - ugly models ?
Well its my a little bit of criticism so bear with me on this.

I think the tiefling model/s that were already shown so far (I guess its a pre-alpha?) is ugly model that look nothing like the official concept art that seemingly are based on.

For me the model in the game looks more like Human reskin with horns, While on Concept pic you can see that horns are more intergrated to their foreheads, this also include their demonic/devil feature on their faces and they have tails.

Please don't take this as hate comment or attack, I just want to share my concer about this because I believe Larian can make a way better and more faithfull model for this race.

I actually think the models are an upgrade for games of this type. However, they are DnD realistic rather than photo realistic.

Define "DnD realistic" because from where I standing it means to me that characters models have to be somewhat faithfull to orginal/official concept art, in case of tiefling the game model is not good representation of what they look like in original material.
The tiefling seems less faithful than other characters we have seen.

So either they get very generous with the character options or they have to agree on a form.

Whereby ... if you take the torso as the center, you should be able to add leg shape, tail and wings as options?

Many fantasy peoples in DnD have a problem with the representation, there is a wide difference in what fans want.

One of tiefling subraces have wings if Im not mistaken ?

Somewhere there was actually a "Winged Bloodline" described on the wings.
I don't know whether hooves or feet also show differences in the "Bloodline".
has there been a game with better depicted tieflings? i only remember nwn2 and the tieflings there were literally humans with tiny horns at best. i am just curious

What can I say ...
In Final Fantasy Online and other similar online games, they build animal tails and ears on people and call them animal people.

It doesn't get any lazier than that.
random tiefling art i just googled: https://i.pinimg.com/236x/9e/31/7f/9e317f7424bcba061dbf072a8909a66d.jpg

i dont get where the problem is.

if it is about certain bodyparts well how ugly, handsome or just unhuman your tiefling looks depends heavily on their bloodlineage

so if your tiefling is an asmodeus tiefling you should look like " a handsome devil"

worse fidelity but Neverwinter MMO gets them better from the horn/brow perspective. thats really my only issue though.
vast improvement over DoS 2 that is all i can say...

Thought Tieflings have hooves?
Or was that the draenei from WoW?
Always these similarities ...

Back in the days of 3.5 their looks were left very vague: some could look just about human but have only a hint of devilish looks (say, forked tongue, a short tail, perhaps hooves), while other would look downright beastly (fangs, horns, sulphur-like smell, etc). I suppose that now it all depends on their ancestry? Some have hooves, some don't.

yeah when i heard they are doing bg3 my first fear was "oh god cartoonish humans and giraff elfs" but the game play so far shows that they dont just make divinity & dragons

Yes Draenei from WoW has hooves.

Now with Tieflings, it gets complicated a bit. Old time main rules say they all have horns, then they didn't necessarily have horns, but had to have some kind of "tell" that marked them as tieflings. Horns, hooves, eyes, tails, vestige wings, but they had to have one.

Now recently they have begun to look more like Cambion, where you have a whole bunch of tells that mark them as tieflings and usually it's eyes, horns, tails, skin texture and color. But I'm guessing that hooves aren't out of the question.

Yes, you also find those that you describe, however, WotC always were inconsistent with that themselves.
