Will it have a benchmark?
So my potato can find the optimal frame rate...

I wonder how many people have bad computers. I might be out of touch here since I find upgrading to a decent computer to be cheap. Don't get me wrong, I can never upgrade to a high end computer since that cost more than triple of what my laptop is worth.

I surpass the recommendations with a gtx 1080

All I care about is running 1080p Ultra at a stable framerate around 60fps.

Nowadays you can get a decent gaming pc for a reasonable price, for example you can get some quality stuff like a Radeon rx 580 and a Ryzen 5 2600 X for less than 300 bucks.

Depends what you define "bad". The Steam surveys argue that GTX 1050 / ti cards are amongst the most popular used. Chips such as the GTX 960 or 750 ti also still hold a significant market share. Yet all of those don't even meet the minimum requirements for BG3 EA.

Amongst BG3's (or Larian's) userbase it may be even higher, as you neither needed a beefed up PC to run CRPGs as well as Larian's games typically, in particular both DOS games.

And, to be honest, the temporary requirements are pretty close to Flight Simulator 2020's

lol my card is Nvidia GTX 1050 (Mobile) so does this means my laptop is a potato? Maybe I need an upgrade

I would upgrade but I looked up an FPS comparison between 2080 and 1080 and the difference is minor for $1.5k

Is there such a difference in price with Europe? You can get a 2080 with 700 euros (or around 660 pounds in the uk).

I'm excited to play and happy that my gaming pc is greater than most recommended stats, however anyone who is running a potato, might I suggest that this game at least for EA will also come out on Google Stadia. I have a friend who has a computer that couldn't play DOS:2, but is super excited just because BG3 has EA on Stadia. I imagine if you want the best out of the game come launch, get Stadia which is a much lower cost than buying an entire rig for it. (I'll admit that I would rather pay for a better computer overall, but I got the money for it whereas my friend doesn't and would just get Stadia because of the cost difference.)

Literally no reason to ever buy a RX 580.
A RX 590 is cheaper and better, so is a GTX 1650 Super.

$1.5k? Wut?

I can buy a 2080 TI, new, for $1,250. The price difference between a 1080 and 2080 is nowhere near $1,500.

Whether you'd call it a potato is a matter of reference, but a GTX 780 is about 47% more powerful than your mobile 1050. Even a 760 is more powerful than a mobile 1050.

1050's or 1650's for that matter, are pretty terrible purchases in laptops IMO. In desktops they're not as bad since you can swap out the GPU later, but in a laptop, you have to replace everything, so it's more cost effective to go a bit higher end initially so you don't need to upgrade as often.

Not sure what you spent for your laptop, but I have seen 1660 TI laptops as cheap as $750. When they're not on sale they're more frequently found for about $1,000.

A 1660 TI is 135% more powerful than a 1050. Nearly 2.5x the performance, and not that much more expensive.

Anything below a 1660 TI, in a laptop is a bad purchase IMO.
