Personally, I've only bought two games during EA and I haven't really regretted either purchase. However, there are a ton of EA games that are garbage/stuck in development hell etc. As for BG3 I'm pretty confident in saying that it won't be a "bad" EA purchase, but again for some people it's the principle of not buying unfinished products or w/e
Too many gamers think Early Access is just buying a game sooner.
With BG3, I doubt you need to worry about the game never coming out, so it's probably down to whether or not you want to play an unfinished portion early, or play the whole thing at once after it's all done.
However, BG3 early access is a bit different since it is promising a full game play of the first act with few things missing which I'm going to assume they won't add all the classes and skills but that's fine imo since it is only the first act.
but if they ♥♥♥♥ up one time they got to make up... even a donkey only steps on ice once!
I feel like EA just makes dev's complacent while just releasing few minor patches every now and then
Tell me about it. Exanima can go ♥♥♥♥ itself.
I also, bought Bannerlord. Yes, the game is a mess. However, it's fun AF also. I got 100 hours out of it then uninstalled. I'll go back to it in a year or 18 months and see what it's become. I don't regret the purchase at all, plus I got it for 20% off.
