Is Baldur's Gate in some desert?
From what I have seen of exterior scenes in footage and images it looks like this game is set in a dry, arid environment. I am not an expert of DnD lore by any means, but all maps of Faerun I see indicate that the city is in a temperate zone.

Will we have other biomes? It is useful for modders to have a diverse array of resources to create environments.

The cinematic trailer shows a glimpse of a snowy mountainous region, but that may just be for that trailer and does not indicate that we will be allowed to go there.

Huh, I never heard that anywhere? Do you have a link to where they explain that?

It's a crossover with fallout world. There is a portal in the middle where you pass from one world to another.

You see its a paradox like this thread. Where your answer to my answer is before my initial answer. Mind bending right?

Yet it is indicate that we will be allowed to under mountainous region with underdark videos
I have seen vides that show forest/swamps , mountains/hills , river/near sea area but can tell if it is the mountains area of the intro

No it is not post apocalyptic in any way other than it is chronically around and bit after the time of troubles

The videos show meany environments included the underdark , the Yartar , Baldur Gate city

The game is not set in a dry, arid environment but Yartar the city you see in the intro is situated on the Evermoor Way, on the eastern bank of the River Surbrin, overlooking the nearby River Dessarin . Rivers have sand but are for sure not dry

You didn't see the high tech photon weapons and the space shuttles in the trailer?

I would rather call it medieval fantasy with magic. Post apocalyptic usually refers to a world where civilization has reached it's peak and then suddenly got destroyed, but the people still cling to it in certain aspects, e.g still use the technology, knowledge and habbits that originate from that era such as weapons, clothing, vehicles, chemicals, food.

Some of the BG1 locations were arid-looking, complete with cactus (Firewine bridge and the south of Mutamin's garden.

This actually a very serious topic in the D&D community. The river Chiontar has been drying up do to the global warming that started after the Spellplague. The Waterdavians are mostly to blame. They started a trend of over consumption that started trends up and down the Sword Coast. Of course, these causes many envirmental hazards that kind of fill in those previous dead magic zones. This is trajix because even the Spine of the World is melting and those poor Frost Giants are dying. There was even news of one floating out in the Sword Sea on a lone Iceberg. I hate to say it but Toril might not be around much longer if people don’t change. Just ask the lizard people. The reptilian races ruled Toril before humanoids. Unforutanly due to there excess the god Amanuator went supernova. Only after beaing Lathander for a few thousand years did things go back to normal…..

The Waterdavians are behind everything or under or above or in the corner , well around it at the very least :steamhappy:

The game will probably set you in a journey outside of the city, obviously.

There is many climates/places in the continent of Faerun, and the old Anauroch desert, for isntance, is still very arid even after the return of the Shadows.
