(it's probably not possible to hire Michael Hoenig again - even if he wasn't a fraud[forums.beamdog.com] - but those two alone are more than great).
DOS 2 was made by the Borislav Slavov, it wasn't as great but still above average.
The fact that you didn't even notice the differnce in quality proves that you have no understanding of music.
Boris is their in house composer so he will probably return for BG3 and I hope he can improve his style.
Update he seems to be working on the BG3 soundtrack according to his twitter.
the DOS 2 wasn't bad but i didn't really notice any tunes i exceptionally liked
I have heared the difference between the two, but they aren't up to those composed by the people I have named, nor those of The Witcher 3, for instance.
Therefore, I don't need to have "your" understanding of music. I recognize memorable tracks. Those were not. Not to mention they just don't fit for a Baldur's Gate game.
This is a memorable track :

This is an epic "main menu" theme :

dos2 was not bad but it was not good either. (Lohse's song was awful.. as if pop music)
Listen to this. (7.09) This doesn't suit Baldur's gate.

Do you think it's good? No. not good.
We need sam hulick and michael hoenig.

If he had the budget Larian now posess everyone would know him as one of the greatest game composers like Souls, Innon Zur or Jesper Kyd
I highly doubt the stuff we heard in the trailer or the promotional material will be in the game. It's not really coomon to do so.
I agree. The most appropriate choice as the tone of music; It must be like this.

Music tone is in the same.

I'd say these three pieces alone are better and more memorable than the entire D:OS2 soundtrack together.

I agree, he's meh but he has made a good throne of Bhaal music (I would have prefered Michael Hoenig ;-) )
This how it goes for composing music for a project.
No one goes into a project and just starts composing.
First you meet up with Director/Producer and figure out the vision for the game.
Listening to other games sounds tracks and making sure you are all on same page.
Then you start composing this happens either on piano which is then arranged to Orchestration.
You can do the whole soundtrack in a sequencer all of it and overdub singers, musicians etc.
Big budget games you will be working with a Real Orchestra at the end and that is usually your midi data out of the sequencer.
No one goes into a project and composes the same music as before. The music is the vision of the person who is head of the project. You are the music director and composer it's your job to make sure you are aiming for that vision.
What all this means is! We don't know what the vision for the music is in Baldur's Gate 3 is that's up to the Composer/Music Director and Director/Producer.
The composer isn't going to be composing in a dark room with out the head of the project stopping by and making sure it's all working well.
We can say that yea it will use a real orchestra(which by the way you could be fooled easily by samples but they will use real players like DOS2)
Give the Composer a Chance and let him and Others work.
This is a huge Project and more then just the composer is involved in doing the music(it's more a team thing)
There will be dark atmospheric music like the music in the trailer.
I am sure they will want to try something new in the music.
By the way this is the same thing if you are composing for film. Though you might be given a temp track to work with.
Remember give the composer and their team a chance.
see ya.
