The sequel improved in several areas but screwed up few others.
The first in particular had some extremely flat encounter design.
The second completely failed to offer any challenge (if you are someone who cares).
Both games also shared an incredibly dull and unimaginative setting and didn't exactly shine in term of writing.
Most companions were heavily criticized for being boring and unlikable, too.
DOS2 didn't have many funny remarks from the characters, DOS did though. Which is something I miss while playing DOS2.
Poe2 was so bad that I finally uninstalled it. Couldn't stand the characters, the writing, the shallow plot, the silly everything is pirates. The whole game is your on ship and there are little Islands. Not my kind of RPG.
NOW Pathfinder King Maker is KING!
Or, and hear me out...PEOPLE LIKE DIFFERENT THINGS! Just some food for thought. I for one don't like Larian's cheesy humor either, but I'm more concerned with them injecting their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ leftist SJW politics into the game.
And SJW politics? LOL! They had a big middle finger to all of the "SJWs" from DOS.
But then again, you must be pure right wing, and only care about guns. And you're probably racist and a homophobe.
