Heck, you very next post describes a ton of examples from D:OS2, and there is even more of that stuff in the game. How the Hell can you say that even BG1 (much less BG2) comes even close to that level of silliness, much less being "even more so".
That’s how they breed
And OP hasn't really played DOS2 if they think it's just full of humor. DOS had a lot of it, but DOS2 was much more dark. There is a race that eats human flesh and can relive their last memories.
- the main villain is a psycho who used his best friend as a guinea pig. Jon put this poor bastard in a glas-tank to research the enhancement of human life or some stuff like that. Then he forgot about his friend, which means, that the dude was leading a miserable half-dead-existence for decades or maybe even centuries. And there are more like him in Irenicus lab. The torture the MC and Imoen received wasn't so rough in comparison, hmm?
- The ruling mage-organisation in Atkathla captures mages, who dare to use their powers in their city, even if it just for self defense. The prisoners get lobotomised after some time. If the mage is a hot female she most likely gets ra.ped too.
- There is a serial-killer, who specialises on beggars. He basically skins his victims alive.
- There is illegal slave-trading, and they sell children, too.
- Some as.shole hides a magic sword in the sewers, but created a riddle, so that some witty guy can recover the sword. Sadly his riddle includes the magical brainwashing of a random civilian, who was forced to life the live of a degenerated freak for years or decades in the sewers. He wasn't to happy after I lifted the curse and the poor guy realised what happened to him.
What I wanted to say with this, is, that BGII is a dark and cruel game. Even Minsc is a tragic character, because he probably received some serious blows to the head, which damaged his brain and sanity (he has low Intelligence and Wisdom-stats for a reason, you know?). Luckily his disability didn't change his good and kind nature. This is the true awesomeness of Minsc. A guy who is basically fuc.ked for life, but is to good of a soul to break down.
Oh well. Tough luck, kiddo.
no BG2 was for adults not kids.
everything in the game was mature. It wasn't silly and you weren't some hero on a quest.
The characters were also adults in adult situations.
It's also rated T for Teen. If it was for adults, it would be rated M
And there are LOTS of silly things in BG.
Baldurs Gate was around the time that the likes of ultra violent cartoon characters like road runner, Wile-E-Coyote, Elmer Fudd and bugs bunny were considered an acceptable amount of violence for children under the age of 10.
What ironical? PoE 1 was great. PoE 2 was just masterpiece.
