Cute Flandre cure my heart.

Flandre's Dream is an RPG with a very casual/mobile game mindset. I've heard it was originally a browser game. You spend resources (energy) to advance in the dungeon and when you've used them up, you're meant to close the game and refill them during your offline time. To max out energy it takes 999 minutes, so ~16 hours. Basically, you can only play so much of it, then you're meant to quit for the day.
This kind of approach is often used in the so-called "Pay2Wait" games as a psychological hook to get you to buy microtransactions. Surprisingly, Flandre's Dream doesn't have those. The reason your progress is restricted is really just so that it's a more casual experience: Play it for 15 minutes during lunch break, and be done for the day. It's just a game that doesn't want to be binge-played. It'd actually be pretty short in length for an RPG if you could do that (I've supercleared it in 14 active hours).
So how is it as a game? Pretty good, but also very casual, not exceptionally strategic. Your only real inputs are what upgrades you buy for mana, whether to bring the party you're assigned or rather re-roll a new one, and when you want to flee from the dungeon. Otherwise, your Touhou girls fight automatically. Graphics are cute, music is pretty good and there's a decent story to read in between dungeon dives.
Due to the low complexity, Flandre's Dream can't quite compete with the best Touhou RPGs on Steam. It's nonetheless a fun experience and worth its pricetag.

Pretty fun auto-battle RPG! Unfortunately, you do have to wait real time to unlock more characters to continue Flan's dream. You sorta wait irl and then come back to find a new person joining you. rinse and repeat until all units join. Then you upgrade and play the game!

Story contradicts itself twice halfway through, and the lore is inaccurate I wouldn't bother playing it.

Flandre's Dream. - 36000 ft deep - is an enjoyable, simple game that sometimes reminds me to a mobile game of sorts.
The story is locked behind milestones and achievements, but your objective is clear:

"Try to wake up Flandre with all your might".

To play you require energy and you only get that once per minute when not "diving" AKA playing.
You can also send Koakuma to explore in order to get new girls, items, and progress in the game, but that can take anywhere from 3 minutes to 6:40 hours IRL.

Art is cute and heartwarming, the story is also endearing and enjoyable, although somewhat confusing since it is told from various POV's. Translation is decent, definitely better than most touhou fan-games I've played recently

Overall... A very good game for the price, but nothing out of the ordinary by any means.
Don't expect top-notch quality either, since UI is very simple and somewhat cumbersome when you need to "reload" the main-screen (The girls sleeping in the room are the ones who will dive, so you need to re-roll until you get the girl you want to use or progress story-wise) but I think that could be easily fixed with a shortcut from the developers.

Flandre's dream. It's a Touhou Project fan game made by KAWASAKI-BU and published by DWANGO. This game was originally distributed as a browser game back in RPG Atsumaru. It's been played over a million times by lots of gamers in Japan, and it was so popular that it had more than 12,000 comments. This Steam Edition has been ported to RPG MV tool.


The game is simple and fun overall. When you start the game, a friendly tutorial will greet you. Your friend Flandre is in deep sleep. To wake her up you enter her dream. There you will fight with unknown monsters. The more you win the monster, the deeper you can go. Every time you step into the certain depths, a boss battle awaits you. And you can get mana from them. Mana is used to strengthen your and your friends' stats. This upgrade also includes unique skills that your friends have.

Friends to help you can get from the search. Searching takes some time, and each region has different friends. Once you get friends, new loading artworks about them are added, and you can enter Flandre's dream with them. However, friends who can participate in adventures and battles together are randomly determined each time you enter her dream. About 26 Touhou Project characters appear in this game.

At the end of each battle you can choose to wake up at the current stage or go deeper into her dreams. If you wake up at the right timing without being defeated by a monster, you get a booster bonus for the adventure outcome. Adventures can continue from the deepest dream stages you reached. The more achievements you achieve in your adventure, the more stories you can open. There are about 130 interesting and mild short stories about Flandre and her friends, including background settings and side stories.


Flandre's dream. It's a nice Touhou Project Fan game. Sincerely welcome its global release. Although its quality is not AAA, this is a unique and valuable indie & doujin game. In particular, the game portrays the atmosphere of the Touhou Worldview well. Each Touhou character is still attractive and the music is impressive. Gameplay is a bit repetitive, but it's not a big deal because you can unlock different stories as the progress. The translation is a somewhat straightforward, but we can forgive it enough. Because already spent so happy time with this game. Recommended!

So, my opinion of this game is quite good. Upon playing for a bit, I can tell a lot of effort went into the Visuals, Story and the Music.

The Visuals for the characters reminds me a bit of the popular Walfas design, but not quite the same. It is more like a refined version of the Walfa design, and it works well.

The Story is alright, athough there really isn't a whole lot to talk about it storywise. Basically the story is just "Flandre is in a very deep sleep that she can't wake up from, and we need to send people to her dreams to save her.".

The music though is very good, especially the menu theme. Sometimes I jut leave the game open in the background so I can space out to that theme.

Overall, the game is quite a pleasant experience, with my only gripe being that I have to keep reloading to get the desired characters instead of just being able to choose. Other than that though, I think this game is neat and is certainly worth playing even though it has no acheivements, which is about the only other issue I have with this game, but that is a bit more of a personal preference I have in games, so I don't think it is fair for me to fault the game for that.

(Edit: So the game just randomly decided to delete all my progress for no reason. I take everything back. Garbage Game. (Not really, but still come on game, that was like weeks worth of progress erased. >:( ))
