Is this intended or a bug? - scanner not showing relics

I'm going through my second 1.0 playthrough. Is there a point in upgrading the scanner to max? In Portia it showed what the items were when upgraded.

All I get out of max scanner is more distance (worse in the horribly designed mole caves) and some ???
I thought the questions marks might change to show the relics, but nope. Not at all in my two games.

The scanner should identify relic pieces, but you have to point the view directly at it. The little dot in the center of the screen when you activate the scanner has to be right on the relic piece and then you'll see a circular progress bar as it identifies it. The scanner isn't quire as good as it was in Portia, but you can mine with it active, unlike Portia, so it evens out a little.

Yeah, I know how it works, but it literally shows no names of anything fully upgraded. Portia was actually better in my opinion on this. Especially since you could lock on to 3 at the highest tier scanner and it would show an outline of the object.
The one in Sandrock literally only shows distance fully upgraded and you can't lock on from what I've tried.

This might be a bug. I haven't went mining recently but I'm pretty sure my maxed out scanner was showing the names of the item.

Just speculation, but it might be from upgrading the Analysis Chip to Hyper Focusing Lens before you upgraded the Focusing Lens to Advanced Focusing Lens. The Advanced upgrade might have overridden the Hyper upgrade, if the Hyper upgrade was done first.

I did see someone else said it worked on entry of each floor and stopped working. I think mine just never worked at all.

Figured it out. Not sure how, but I did. Kinda works I guess.
