Another way to make combat in the game more difficult
You probably remember that big scandal with the opponents scaling option?
I'm the type of player that focuses on difficult fights, and I spend as much time as I can on this game because I really enjoy it. The leveling system makes my character level too high, making fighting opponents too easy for me! I asked the game creators to add the option to scale opponents. Yous probably remember the scandals I caused with my discussions? Yous started explaining to me that it couldn't be done, or you claimed it was incompatible with the target players (sounds absurd), others started blocking me, and still others were so fed up with me that you wanted to ban me and my discussions because I was repeating myself. But enough about opponents scaling, let's talk about something completely different. Why didn't you write in the comments that there is another way to make fighting opponents more difficult and that something like that exists? Most of you probably don't know what this is about. I'm talking about "FLiNG Trainer" for "My time at Sandrock". This mod breaks the rules of the game and allows you to unlock all blueprints and edit or multiply values such as: gols, points of HP, defense, attack, luck, reputation and experience (exactly). I became interested in this mod and wanted to make it so that my character did not gain experience points and it turns out that it can be done!

Why did I have to act like an idiot! Instead of looking for alternative ways to make fighting enemies more difficult, I had to post in the discussions so the developers could add this opponents scaling option! Sorry.
I hope this will be the last discussion about the leveling system. I'll start playing this game again.

If you are interested in this mod, write on the page "My time at Sandrock Trainer" there you should find the page "FLiNG Trainer"
Yes, you can block your character from gaining experience points.
Yes, it works in version 1.4.2

While it's great you found some solution that works for you, this game was never intended to be a Souls-like game where it's ridiculously hard for the sake of being hard. Combat was never a central focus of the game, it was just one means of gathering resources to feed the main loop which is building things.

If you want games with difficult combat, there's plenty out there to choose from, but this was never meant to be one of them.

oh, you're finally going to play the game instead of just complaining about it not being the specific, exact game that you deem that it should be, damn everyone else's preferences?

neat.

eta: I stopped engaging with you in good faith when you acknowledged that the copious number of threads you created to complain about the game/combat were ALL OF THEM made without you ever having even played the game.

That's good for you and anyone else that would want that mod, I guess, that you found a way to play the Portia games your way, but they really aren't meant to be like that. Scaled difficulty just takes away from the theme of the Portia games, with the difficulty at a nice casual level that keeps it relaxing, but fun.

I'm not a fan of using mods in general for any games myself, because they can more often than not present a risk of problems coming up in the game, like corrupted files, or incompatibility issues, like the game not being able to run properly or at all with the new mods installed, I hear it happening a lot of the time with lots of games out there. There's a reason why mods are never included in the base version of any game, and something you can only download from separate internet sites, because, unless they have been tested to be compatible with the game by the developers themselves, they're just very risky business.

Edit: In reference to your comment, Aerogems, my reasons for not preferring mods is not based on misconceptions, but on sound evidence and research. When I mentioned mods being risky, I am not referring to mods that are provided by the devs themselves, because those have been tested by the devs to be compatible with the game, so those, I would trust. I am instead referring to mods provided by people unrelated to the designing of the games, who are not even the official developers of the game, providing mods on separate internet sites. These are always the cases where I have been seeing problems arising with mods, so any mod that hasn't been created by a developer is not one I would personally trust, is all I'm saying. Game developers understand how to work with and test content that will be compatible with their game, so modding in games should really just be left up to the experts to handle.

While it's true having independent efforts from multiple individuals can sometimes cause problems, that's not even remotely the reason why mods aren't included with games. When you think about it, DLC is a mod that is provided by the developer. It does pretty much the same thing mods do such as alter gameplay (pet tamer) or add new content (love chronicles). However, if you look around, some of the most successful games over a span of many years, are games that have embraced modding. Stardew Valley, Stellaris, Fallout 4, Crusader Kings, Terraria... The mods help keep the game fresh and add new elements for people to enjoy. Sometimes they also cause problems, but they're also generally free of charge, so I consider it just the price of admission. If you don't want to partake, I'd say you're seriously missing out, but that's your choice. However, your given reasons for not doing so are based on misconceptions.

If you want harder combat, why not simply use a lower grade weapon?

So go play a hard combat game. Why do you want to wreck our cozy crafting game?

That's just weird.

TIL My Time fans are just as salty as From Software fans when anyone asks for difficulty settings that have been in gaming since the 80s lol
