Love the game, but the voice acting is so inconsistent
The NPC characters seem like different lines were voiced by different people or their accent changes from one conversation to the next. Catori is a great example. When you initially meet her she has this really strong "New York" accent and when I talked to her just now it seemed like the voice actor couldn't decide between "southern bell", "tough New Yorker", or no accent at all. It's just a really jarring experience and almost makes me wish you could turn off the voice acting completely.

Can't say I really noticed it. The only one that was jarring was Pablo's voice shift and one of Mort's lines. I find Jasmine's voice kinda grating too but thats more personal preference. Everything else far exceeded my expectations and makes playing stuff like Coral Island a challenge because the game feels soulless without the VA.

Yeah, can be weird sometimes to hear the differences in the npcs voices, one of the ones annoying me the most being Mort, but I would personally rather hear that than no voice at all; never been a fan of silent protagonists for the character you're playing, or npcs, it's pretty much the reason why I prefer Portia over Sandrock, because of the builder having an audible speaking voice. No voice for the builder in this game, with just text dialogue choices to select, to reply back to npcs, just feels wrong, and not immersive. Hopefully, they will bring back audible voices for the builder in any future sequels, cause it's just not as good without it, imo.

I think, to make this game appealing for everyone though, they should just bring in an option in the settings to both mute or unmute npcs' or the builder's voices, instead of removing it from the game completely, a mistake they made in Sandrock.

The issue was the did all the voice recording, and then added a ton more text. I don't know if they ended up with different VA, or maybe the same ones with different setups, or just didn't do the same accent as the first time.

I think they were trying to do better than Portia, because so many people complained it wasn't voice acted beyond some hello lines and cut scenes. So they tried to do VA from the start, and ran into this issue when they added more content.

Cant win either way, I guess.
