This is correct. This is not a farming sim, the closest you get to a farming mechanic is very basic plant growing. However, this is a fantastic cozy rpg.
ETA: If you are playing multiplayer with your spouse you are both missing out on some amazing content. The real shine for this game is the single player story.
Thanks for the reply! Yeah we really enjoy this game for what it is, and go into each game like it with an open mind and low expectations. I was just surprised that they had so much content, but were missing what seemed like a basic part of the genre, even in the crappy low budget titles. Still, it's only something I'd like to see, it's not a game breaker by any means. I really enjoy playing Sandrock.
Oh so my wife and I take turns playing full days in single player. We each have our own play style, so one day will be primarily an epic day of fighting monsters, exploring ruins and sparring with the locals, and the next day will be a nice day of organizing, farming and taking care of the household related stuff. It works quite well, really!
The mounts and pets are a lot more fleshed out and useful though, if animals are your thing. Pets were actually a big focus of of the latest update.
That sounds so lovely! But it also made me think of that Shirley Jackson story "One Ordinary Day, With Peanuts". Sort of.
We still had a blast with the game, and sank many hours into it. It still felt like something was missing throughout our play though. Having a breeding system just seems like it would fit so naturally into the game, and give a dynamic that would only improve on an already great game.
I don't mind buying, waiting a few days and selling for profit, but it feels disconnected in a way. There is something extra about breeding, naming and raising your own animals.
Like you said though, not a deal breaker. It would just be fun to have.
