During Andy's last wish he says that Qi is "Kinda the last feller in town I'd ever see you takin' after". I don't think that's really an insult, just an observation, especially since Andy had literally just called him "that uppity science feller".
Then during the pre-cut scene for his proposal he says:
Ahem... Andy really don't like school... but he's a good kid. He's been spendin' a lot of time with the Director in the Research Center.
Long as he's interested in learnin', I'm happy. I don't think school teaches ya everythin' you need. Oh, don't tell him I said that...
Neither of these seem like he doesn't like Qi or thinks he is weird to me.
Heck, I like Qi, but the fact he has the compassionate take on Logan's antics is really shocking to me. He's kind of uninterested in anything outside of himself and his interests in general.
It is positive, well Andy love to be smart. He seem Qi as a smart person.
It is negative, well Logan can be seem as wierd too since what he is doing after his father death isn't right.
LOL and I married Logan just for Andy. :)
Then he not only puts up with Andy, he encourages and helps him. And his commentary after the school is built is also the most caring, humanitarian dialogue for that event. I also feel sometimes that the game doesn't give him enough credit for his inventions, but he does it all anyway.
I think this game does a great job with characters who may be off-putting to some players at a glance, but then they grow on you as you get to know them and discover the nuances of their personalities. Thinking specifically of Qi, Fang, and Cooper. (I never especially disliked any of them, but they certainly all got more endearing with time.)
I agree. For me it was Cooper and Burgess. I found Burgess especially annoying at first, but now he's one of my favorites. He's just so dang wholesome without any ulterior motives, and his ARCS quest is one of the funniest ones in the game. I especially love his response to the pyromaniac and the fact he lets me scream things like "i'll kill you" at them, lol.
but Owen said that he considered Logan to be his friend, and showed empathy for what he must have experienced with what happened to his father, saying he wouldn't know what he'd do if he was in that situation, probably the same thing, and that if he just turned himself in, the healing could begin. Even if they might be wrong in their assessments of Logan too, I felt that these 2 stood out the most to me, concerning caring about Logan during his 'bandit' phase.
I played that whole quest with a pained smile on my face. On the one hand it's laughably funny, but on the other I'm just wondering the whole time how my builder and Burgess are getting away with being so bizarre...and the ARCs are somehow going along with it? I half expected to find out that Dan-bi had planted those people so that Burgess wouldn't get his naive little heart trampled all over.
Well, to be fair, the ARCS are a little off their own rockers. I shall happily be the sidekick of the Dewdrop Cop.
At-Risk Citizens indeed.
