If you don't have a pre-Quest save available, your only in-game option would be to plant a bunch of seeds a bunch of times at your Yard until you 'age' the plots into Biocrust (5 cycles of Rose Willow is reportedly the fastest way; other methods will take longer, but will produce more 'useful' products). You can then pick up the Biocrust ('Remove Soil' Action in Planting editor) and head back out to the Tree Farm.
Can you take a screenshot? Because I am baffled how you managed to make that part of the game unwinnable.

I was in the mech when this happened and just kept on going without thinking.
