You need to place the crib into your house first, I believe. Or you can wait for your spouse to ask you about it first.

Also, if you're a same-sex couple, you can only have a child through adoption. There's no option for IVF or similar in the game, as far as I'm aware.

What does IVF mean? I am married to someone of the opposite sex. I have already placed the crib. I'm still not getting the option to ask for a baby

Is anyone going to answer this question?

Well, I was having the same issue until I realized I had to speak to hubby about it. If I remember right, there should be a pacifier icon that appears when you talk to him/her. I clicked it then the dialogue for the baby started.

I already said in the topic of the discussion that I am not getting that icon to ask for a baby

Ok I had this issue myself (with Logan, who are you with btw?). Some things I learned:

You need a workshop at level 5 or higher (how many expansions you've had to the land).
You need a cradle somewhere in your house (I put down one in each room, and now I cannot remove them...)
You may need a single bed or two for when the baby gets older and doesn't use the crib anymore.
You need max relationship after marrying your spouse.
You need to wait a certain amount of time after the wedding (exact timeline is unclear, some people say 2 weeks, others say 6 weeks or even longer, maybe it's x amount of time after maxing out spouse relationship?).
There is speculation that having baby items in crates/helper crates may help, but it doesn't seem 100% necessary.

If conditions are met, at some point either your spouse will ask you if you want to have a baby, or you'll get a pacifier icon option when talking to them.

I never got my issue fixed and resorted to using mods (there's a child/children mod on nexus), and that finally did it.

I married Owen. It might be that I don't have a yard space expanded to level 5 because I have the other stuff that you mentioned. But, was a little bit confused about needing to have the yard space at level 5 because I haven't heard that for having a baby but I did hear that you needed a yard space level 5 to get married and Owen proposed to me himself when my yard space was at level 1
I married Logan too, maybe he's been drinking to much cactus juice, I never seen any icon of a pacifier, or anywhere to build or cashier to get a crib . Logan WAKE UP!! lol

It may be related to the crib. I went an inordinate amount of time waiting for something to happen, finally got tired trying everything, so picked up the old crib, bought a new one, put it down... with a couple days it seemed blammo... baby.

IVF means there are no infertility options available to the player. :-) Its all natural or adopt. :-)
