That's normal. Marrying one of your romantic partners makes you automatically break up with all of your other romantic partners. Breaking up causes the relationship to drop to a lower level. The new relationship can range anywhere from Associate to Friend, according to the wiki.

If it bothers you too much and you really want them to put aside their jealousy and embrace polyamory, there are mods you can use ("Your Time at Sandrock" + "Ytas - Lovers") to achieve that. Just be aware of the possible problems that might come along with modding.

It is stupid that they drop your relationship so far! My relationship was dropped all the way down to associate. I could see the relationship going back to best friends because you wouldn't be married and dating someone, but dropping your relationship to associate is just too extreme. For the people who don't know about the relationship drop they could be dating every character and then get married to 1 of they and then that would mean that 20 characters relationship status could drop to associate and that is a huge waste of time for anyone playing the game

I don't know for sure but I think breaking up with them before marrying someone else lessens the damage. You don't get a passive aggressive letter in the mail at least.

It is a game, it is not real life. The relationship points shouldn't be affected so extremely if you are dating multiple people and then marry 1 of them. If you can't give a helpful response then just don't respond, or be reported for harassing or starting fights
