Buying a horse question

I ve been waiting for a green or blue horse to become available for sale but no luck. Is it worth buying a white to start building up loyalty?

Is it hard to upgrade mount quality to blue/purple? I havent done any fang experiments. Wonder how many weeks that will take to get the special X recipe.

Just save scum before you take the fang meds experiment and it not take too long maybe almost a year i think because when i did it it's almost a year so it might different people have different result. Since you can't get purple from the shops and blue it's there but quite rare if you also keep reloading the save game until you get the blue one. for loyality is quite easy just pet it everyday and ride and just feed it with the favorite food since sometimes i do that just running around in circle to decrease the stamina and feed it

I actually had to wait almost a full season for Cooper to get in a horse that wasn't purple already, it's totally random. As for upgrading, you can upgrade it one level each time with the Fang Special X. However, to get that you have to do Taste of Your Own Medicine. If I remember correctly, if you don't RNG into picking the correct medicine it will default you into victory after 3 tries. There are 8 medicines with the Special X being the last one discovered and you can taste on Wed and Friday, so if RNG hates you and you go every single Wed and Friday the mission is at most 24 tastes, so 12 in game weeks long. However, if RNG loves you it will be 4 weeks minimum.

Yes, it's worth buying a horse or at least renting one, even if it's not as high a quality as you want. Even a slow horse is faster than walking and a low-quality horse is also a lot cheaper.
