Report a translation problem
All I know is I had the exact same experience. She was the only character who I saw a 2D portrait of before seeing the 3D model. It really threw me off. If I had to make a guess, I think it's that the 3D eyes are just too wide-open. No subtle resting eyelid, just shocked open. A lot of characters have that problem, but you don't see the 2D social page portrait until after seeing their in-game model. Nia is the only exception to that, so she stands out.
But i'm not even talking about the picture. There's this sequence, when she arrives, you know, those sequences with subtitles but without the dialogue box? There her eyes seem to look normal.
