Is any of the DLC worth it?
I just bought the base game, but thought I'd ask about the DLC

It's just clothing items. More or less, if you want to further support the devs, buy. If you feel the game was enough, enjoy the game. They'll appreciate that most.

Alright thanks

I bought the gecko, and it's both cute and useful. I'm not interested in clothing, but that's just me

How is it useful?

You can adopt total of 6 pets in game. After adopting you can dispatch said pets to collect stuff for you, water being the most useful early game.

By buying the 'Gecko DLC' you instantly make the gecko pet friendly to you allowing you to dispatch it from the very day.

Normally you to adopt a pet you need to raise it's affection high enough AND have a certain side quest done. That side quest is the only way to get the blueprint to build an animal house that I know of. You need 1 Animal House per 1 pet.

Oh ok thanks for the info. That certainly sounds like.it would be useful. Water and money are the two things I'm struggling with right now.

You'll get some clothes and furniture that gives bonus to base stats that helps a little on the early game but you'll get items just as strong if not better by the first in game month. Also you'll get a pet from day 1 you can send to collect water everyday, pretty much making the dew collectors redundant. Remember you'll need to complete a mission that likely appears on the second month that allows you to adopt pets, so you'll need to get by with dew collectors until that point.

Other than that, not much of an advantage other than aesthetic value.

Alright thanks. I bought the pet, but will probably wait on the other DLC as it didn't look like anything I'd be interested in right now. Maybe the furniture, but that'll be down the line when I have more space to decorate.

I hate the pet. The art doesn't fit and it doesn't make noise or anything. It's only useful to get me water.

The best is the furniture packs. They add stats to your house early on.

The clothes are up to what you like. I think the fashion show stuff is just ill-fitting of Sandrock.
The player clothes piss me off because they fill your entire inventory+ and you only get the clothes based on your gender. I don't want to wear fancy skirts. I'm a tomboy. Pants all the way.

+1

I haven't purchased any of the Packs. I'm considering the Far East Furniture Pack but I'm not sure. The wallpaper and such.. I don't like any of it. They're not as nice as what we already get in-game (Can we get some nice Normal texture packs for the walls please? How about color for the stone and wood walls - Not crazy colors or over-saturated colors .. Cream, Muted Coral or Rose, a Nice soft Brown, Grey-blue. I'm kind of tired of hot pink and Bright yellows and so on.

The clothing packs are nice but honestly, if they would just make a pack with some nice shirts, t-shirts, jeans, and jackets.. I would buy that.. Again, normal colors please. It would be nice to be able to change our partners into something less flamboyant but realistic for the Sandrock area... take the hat off Logan (He wears it to bed).. give Fang a pair of pants that aren't high-water pants.. Give our own character some more normal-ish clothing to wear.

If you like mix matching up your character's or the npc's daily garbs, the clothing DLC's are a must have I think. I bought the furniture's DLC too, I like them but I still think the clothing ones are better then the furniture's pack since my characters only home when she needs to sleep. :portiallama:

The gecko, besides being adorable, gives a nice little resource boost (send it for water every day; it makes a meaningful difference) in the earlygame.

Everything else is entirely cosmetic, but I for one think Mi-an especially looks absolutely adorable in her swimwear.

I have all the DLC packs except for the NPC clothing and would really only recommend the Gecko. The terrarium is cute and if you start on a new playthrough it unlocks pets early and those little guys can help locate water and other resources for you daily. Which is very nice especially early in game. The Far East Furniture pack is good too, imo. Though most of the items seem to take up a larger footprint when placing than they should, and are a bit off in their placement, but aesthetically it's nice, if that's your thing. Not a fan of the current clothing DLC at all, especially for the NPCs. Hoping for some Sandrock theme or western type outfits.

While not a perfect solution you can store 3 sets of clothes (not accessories) into the wardrobe -furniture items.

What is up with the clothes in this game? Why does everything look so weird? I finally found my go to outfits for each season but it was a real struggle to find pieces that didn't look just ridiculous and winter really blows until I can level up enough to get that awesome kitty duster with pants (NOT the stupid hat). While the NPC clothing can be considered a bit eclectic, it's all fairly average and utilitarian looking, why are my choices so damn strange? I dig in caves, build things and fight monsters. I do not wander around in a cyber dystopia nor am I lolling around in a rich district waiting for the games to start.

I also don't think the DLC clothes are that great. Swimsuits...eh, ok, at some point the oasis is open to swimming. The rest? Where are you supposed to wear that stuff, the Blue Moon?

It would fit more if EVERYONE looked weird as hell, but, no, it's just me. Even with the DLC on all available characters you still have 1/2 the town looking normal but surrounded by the cast of Jersey Shore or looking like dealers for Tony Montana.
