Machine quality
What is the advantage of upgrading a machine from outstanding quality to perfect or rare quality other than gol value increases? I don't want to find out the hard way by doing it because of the resource cost, which is pretty hefty.

Bigger numbers on the stats, can queue up a 2nd craft, can save fuel/water, faster crafting etc. The rolls are rng, you can keep refining at rare to reroll.

Eventually you will have tons of what you need to upgrade the quality of the machines, so no worries. And the quality remains when you upgrade the machines that have tiers.
Even increases the rewards for missions, if you got the skill upgrade for it.

It's totally worth it.

Just make a quick save, then upgrade and see for yourself what difference it makes. Reload from the quick save if you don't think it was worth the cost.
