The right to clay!
I'm approaching midgame and found one of the hardest resources to stock - of all things! - is clay! I can buy limited amounts from Amirah but it's not usually enough for the Bloodstone core commissions that frequently pop on the comm board. I pick up small amounts in the Eufala ruins when farming copper & tin, however, I have even less luck if I go in there specifically for clay as I usually end up with dinas and stone trying to recognize the shade of the right soil to harvest.

I think it would help if clay was a byproduct of, say, stone recycling. Such a common material should not be like trying to mine gold...my thoughts anyway.

Haha, I ran into this issue as well.
Those bloodstone-based commissions will really drain your clay supply.
I stopped picking those commissions after a certain point.
Or more accurately, they eventually stopped popping up so much after going up in workshop rank, since they got replaced by other things.

Though, I do wish that clay was in ALL of the abandoned ruins, not just the very first one.

Also, I wouldn't mind if the Mineral Refinery was updated to include more things.
More ores able to be ground up like Nickel and such, and also add clay into the results of something like the Stone refinery option.

There is a certain grade of Dirt you want to mine for good chance (not guaranteed) at getting clay. I can't recall if its the Smooth or the Chunky (rocky) grade. I want to say smooth but I could be wrong.

Clay? I have at least 2,000 of this. (around mid content) You cannot mine without getting also Clay. So I dont really understand why you struggle to get it.

That only means you're not into that part of the game or you're already surpassed it. There is some period on that every single day has 1 or more commissions that requires clay and it really drains our ressources. But I think that is still ok, what wears me down is the simple circuits fad. There was a day when I had to find 5 circuits into the mine because there is only 1 outside and the Breach is random.

Early on I had plenty - hardly noticed the amount I lost to Amirah on the bi-weekly mission which didn't last long anyway. Once those bloodstone core missions started poppin' - which were desirable because of a decent amount of shop rep, ease to make on worktable and almost instant delivery - my clay reserves took a nosedive. Both Amirah and Hugo would request them a lot.

The only mineable source is the Eufala ruins (copper & tin) and I'm past those and exploring the Gekko ruins (about halfway thru those). I go back to Eufala when I need copper and tin, but I never seem to pick up much in the way of clay that way. Maybe it's because I reset and redo the 10th and 11th level instead of earlier levels, I don't know, but clay has become a rare resource for me.

Yeah, the chances are still thin, but better at 1 to 6 floors.

Clay isn't a right, it's a gift from Mother Earth!

I had no issue on my first save. I got close to low on my second during the "builders get clay for potters right?" quest.

I always dig up more than the ore nodes though as I enjoyed digging through dirt in Portia ruins. I also like to uncover the cool old world stuff since they put some real design work in the ruins for Sandrock.

Honestly, I'm selling sand and rocks just to empty my storage for more room.

I have the exact same problem and I therefore don't pick up those commissions that require clay. But they keep returning. Too bad the mole contract can't handle clay for some reason. I'm not diving into the first ruin again just for small amounts of clay, I got more important things to do and the Starship ruins to clear.
