that sounds like an interesting open relationship kind of situation. glad to see the devs have the balls for that too :D
She wants to be involved in solving mysteries, yet in my second run, I looked for her after the "bounty hunter" investigation because she said she wanted to be involved next time. She had nothing to say. Just ran around the desert doing whatever she does.
I mean... She is pretty pitiful. I guess they wanted you as the character player to be the real hero (despite every time I kick someone's butt by myself, the cut-scene shows me on the ground or something).
Truth. I am sitting at over 12K workshop points for the year and it's mid-Autumn, and I literally slept a bunch of days away waiting for something to happen, while Mi-an is at 2k and in 2nd place for the year. I barely take any commissions at all unless they are mission related, I want to build out my property, or I want to level some relationship points with someone - and I'm steamrolling everyone.
I was hoping for that as well.. or at least she and our char could 1 -2 Death Match Yan. That would of been Boss! Come on people, you know it would of been a great option... okay, maybe I'm the only one.
But no, anything along those character lines doesn't happen. "Tutorial girl," as she was sometimes tagged, becomes heavily under-written.
It's quite funny. When I left the game in EA she was the face of the game. When I came back, she managed to get close to the likes of Venti in relevance.
I just hope this wasn't kickstarted by all the cries about her being the player's voice - not much her fault, just a drawback of having a silent protagonist on a game where every other NPC is voiced.
I never understood the hate. Player's voice or not I was always just like "Do you people somehow like or want a Higgins type character again?" He was awful and the worst part about Portia for me. At least Mi-an I liked her energy, attitude, etc.
Yeah, me too. I even choose not voices in Portia, and would do that here. With silent protagonist I can perfectly imagine the voice, thank you so much.
And I liked Mi-An, not as a mate, but as a very good best friend. Tha't why I wanted so hard that she overcome her depressive period.
I actually prefer Higgins to her. So I guess yes, people do like and enjoy different things.
Exact opposite for me personally. I liked having a protagonist with a voice for once.
I found Higgins annoying and wasn't looking forward to having him as my personal "nemesis," but eventually found a way to fix it. Every time I saw him, I imagined my character bellowing "**** you, Higgins!" and I couldn't help but laugh. It did feel kind of awkward when he sort of becomes nice to you.
With Yan, however, I made a point to never let him to get the first place and only the first month was a bit tricky.
Sadly or not, Mi-An was never a competitor because all that Yan did.
