Banjo is in a tree

I'm on the pet detective mission, and I need to talk to Banjo. He happens to be up in a tree by the tracks, and I can see him but cannot talk to him. I've tried waiting a couple days and doing other things, but hes always there. Has anyone else encountered this and how do I fix it?

It´s a quick fix, atleast if it works, try different angles or to mount an animal, then you´re a little closer to Banjo.

Is he in the box I keep seeing in that same tree?

Thanks! I think that would've worked but when i restarted the game Banjo was back by the apartments.

Chop the tree down if you can or call the fire brigade

I've seen Sandy up in that same tree. I'm beginning to suspect that tree may be carnivorous.
