I think Portia had more likable characters. However, I am still having a blast with the game. I'm on playthough 2 since 1.0 release.
You don't have to accept Arvio's delivery missions if you don't want to. Refusing won't have any negative effect on the relationship. However, you will miss out on the relationship points you get for doing the missions. You'll also miss out on the final reward for this mission string, and it's a pretty good one. I recommend doing them but suit yourself.
What contract? You don't have to accept a job just because its offered. You don't have to offer to help him just because he needs a hand.
Refusing wont hurt the friendship. Even telling him his final reward was utter garbage didn't negatively affect the relationship.
That contract had nothing to do with Arvio.
