- powering the machines: same way as you were powering before. fill up the furnace and the water tank outside. It'll take the power from there
- you should have a console where you can select the jobs. click on the top nav and choose furnace for example. then on teh left nav you can click on what you want to create (e.g. bronze bars), once you select, you can choose how many you want with the sliding bar (hope this makes sense)
- completed items will show up in the box in front of your yard.
Note: Factory controls are not that great yet though and there will be a patch coming - according to the devs. I build factory - but only using for the scrap stuff - as I have so much. The automation is really nice for this. But all the other stuff - factory is just too complex to use for now.
You need a fire-powered generator to power the factory. It won't work without it. Finished goods will go to your delivery chest, the one by the mailbox.
@Padgey
The factory isn't required, as far as I know. You should still be able to make everything without it.
+1 for that. Portia's Factory is way more usefull even if you discard the locked itens.
You have to pick up the item and "put it in your inventory with T" then a light beam will go to the item when you place it in factory. Also you may have to hit the T button while INSIDE the factory for it to work as well, even if you already did it earlier.
On my next playthrough I'll have a better idea how it's supposed to work.
