HELP WITH FACTORY PLEASE
First off, loving the game.

Secondly, I built a separate building from my house. While at the construction office I labeled it as factory, even bought the things I needed from the construction store.

Now I've got this big empty building. I have the computers, the information boards, on the inside and outside. I put one machine inside it to test it. ANd I have absolutely no idea if it's working, or how it works, or what I'm supposed to do. How do I power things inside the factory? Where do the goods go? What's the point of this?

...I miss the factory from Portia...

Please help me. How do I use this factory?

Let me try with a couple of answers:
- powering the machines: same way as you were powering before. fill up the furnace and the water tank outside. It'll take the power from there
- you should have a console where you can select the jobs. click on the top nav and choose furnace for example. then on teh left nav you can click on what you want to create (e.g. bronze bars), once you select, you can choose how many you want with the sliding bar (hope this makes sense)
- completed items will show up in the box in front of your yard.

Note: Factory controls are not that great yet though and there will be a patch coming - according to the devs. I build factory - but only using for the scrap stuff - as I have so much. The automation is really nice for this. But all the other stuff - factory is just too complex to use for now.

Portia you had to make a factory as there was certain items locked to having it just wondering do we have to have a factory in sandrock or can I just keep my stuff outside and not use it

@MiAh The King
You need a fire-powered generator to power the factory. It won't work without it. Finished goods will go to your delivery chest, the one by the mailbox.

@Padgey
The factory isn't required, as far as I know. You should still be able to make everything without it.

Thanks so much. It's still needlessly complicated and annoying but at least now I understand it a bit better...I think lol.

Right now the Mirror is a better Factory for me then the Factory itself. Tbh i wouldnt mind if they just copy the Factory from Portia.

+1 for that. Portia's Factory is way more usefull even if you discard the locked itens.

I figured out a method to make my factory work. If you picked up items and then placed it in factory, it did not work.
You have to pick up the item and "put it in your inventory with T" then a light beam will go to the item when you place it in factory. Also you may have to hit the T button while INSIDE the factory for it to work as well, even if you already did it earlier.

Thanks for that! I moved everything into the factory, but the console showed I had no machines. I finally just moved everything back outside and let the mirror handle everything.

On my next playthrough I'll have a better idea how it's supposed to work.
