My Time at Sandrock

My Time at Sandrock

Loading times
I get loading times constantly. Opening any menu, waiting for UI to pop up when conversing with NPCs, etc. I can run around the map just fine with no lag but if it involves the UI in any capacity I get the green loading circle. What gives?

Same here. I expect they will patch it ASAP.
Are you playing on steam deck? I know on my pc I don’t get the loading times but playing on steam deck I do get the issue or loading times in menus

Have you installed the game on SSD or HDD?
I have the same issue and npcs not loading in for a few seconds to a minute after leaving a house/store, (This is on steam deck btw) have tried messing with settings a bunch.
I had this issue when i had it downloaded on an external drive the read speed was like 15/mbs on then i moved the game to SSD with like 500+/mbs read speed and i don;t even have load times. literally at all, skipping cutscenes, going into ruins, into buildings. it's all instant now.
same here takes long to load
I've got a top-of-the-line 2023 gaming PC (i9-13900KS, 4090 RTX, 96GB RAM, NVME v2 drive, even overclocked it by about 15% without running into temperature-management issues.)

I get long loading times on Yakmel fast-travel and occasional awful framerate drops in the workshop even in the early midgame.
Yep! Same here on my PC and even on my steam deck. Both SDD

This is installed on an SSD. I'm still pretty early in the game, my workshop is minimal. I only really get lag when the UI is trying to load, and when cut-scenes are loading. The UI lag even causes interacting with NPCs to lag for several seconds, sometimes as many as 20 seconds, just waiting on the UI to pop up.
Yep, same here. Was loading fine before the 1.0 patches. Now, when I exit a building, it takes a few seconds for the world to load in (buildings, bushes, etc), and if I open the UI during this time, it'll give me the green "loading" circle until the world has loaded. The map takes a while to populate as well.
On an internal SATA SSD.

This started for me last night near about the 30 hours into my save mark. Here's what I just posted for someone else having issues with loading times, however now I'm worried I'll have to stop playing until they can fix their mess:

It's a big issue, so are frame drops. It also seemed to have a memory leak as the longer I played, the worse it got. You'll get people asking you what's wrong with your computer... even the devs... My game is on my SSD, I have a brand new AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor, and the 1080ti graphics card. 32GB ram. (Some people said higher end pc's have more issues, mine is not "high end".)

Here's what helped me: All the settings set to Extreme, I put to High, turned off anti-aliasing. Someone said to also turn off bug reporting (options menu under game I think), which didn't do much and I don't even know what it does. They want you to compress a bunch of files into an email with full descriptions of each bug to actually do a bug report. If it's in the game, you should be able to report from the game...

My blowing sand looks like square grids and some things look like a sharpening tool was run over it, but items being sucked to my player is faster (not as fast as it should be) and load times are less. I'm still having some extra load time on starting the game or loading a save especially near the 25 to 30 hours of gameplay mark, but at least I'm not getting the in menu message about long load times telling me to check my computer.

Other than that, they know performance is a huge issue. If you feel like going through the whole bug report nonsense, you can send them your save files and logs.
Same issue here, lots of green circle loading rings with abnormally long loads. I'm not very far but I'll see the green loading ring almost every time I open the recycler or map. Took about 30 seconds to load the first conversation with Yan.

Game was purchased today, newly installed and new save. Game is installed on an M.2 drive. Drive tested with 7400MB/s sequential write and 5200MB/s sequential read using crystal mark. These tests were performed while that game was running so I'm sure they're a little higher than the posted value as well.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
Nvidia RTX 3080ti
32GB Ram

We'll optimize it. But there're two options you can try for now:
- Turn off 'send bug report' under settings
- Update graphics card drivers to the latest version.

Thanks. I've done these things and it helped somewhat but I still get green loading circles almost constantly. They don't last so long for me to complete an entire level of match3 on my phone while waiting for a menu anymore. But it's like riding with a student driver.

The. O Constant. O Stops. O Kill. O Immersion. :(

I did both last night to no avail. Loading times are ridiculously long. Game's installed on SSD on an AMD 6800, 32GB RAM, Ryzen 5900. My rig runs any Steam game I throw at it at 2k just fine. This is clearly a Time at Sandrock issue. Devs, at what point the performance of your game becomes priority? Looking at this post, it seems for over a year that people with strong computers choke with your game. You can't possibly argue that Time at Sandrock is more resource-intense than actual AAA top of industry games out there that run fine and without insane delays on rigs like mine. Do you find acceptable to go out of a building into the open world and try to check your map or access your inventory, and have to wait between 30 seconds and a minute every single time, just watching the green spinning circle? Please improve your coding.

Has any player had this issue and done anything to get around it? If so, mind sharing your secret?
