As far as the player is concerned, there's no penalty. You don't take damage or lose stamina or anything like that.
so stupid. i hate gamers, and I hate it more when developers cater to their whining. it's not like storms happen that often. all you have to do is put on a hat. ridiculous.
Dunno if it's because there's an early mission with Pen that takes place during the first sandstorm but yeah it's no biggie using the sandgear. The first type of sandgear is quite ugly though.
On the other hand some of the later versions of sandgear, I think some of the goggles, said in the item description that they worked during sandstorms but actually didn't. Not sure if that ever got straightened out.
There are no enemies to worry about in storms, just that one Pen kills. Nothing has ever been added since then (though I did find a strange new creature out in the desert since a few updates ago with no context as to when or why it's there - but the sandstorms have nothing to do with it).
I have noticed that picking up litter during or after a sandstorm gets you different items - this is a very new update and it's a nice edition for early game as it costs no stamina to pick up trash.
This game has come a long way from where it started and EA players have had quite an impact on the game overall. I can't say I agree with everything everyone had to say, but I'd say our input greatly improved the game overall. And the developers did a really outstanding job with feedback and listening to EA players.
Overall the MTA games are chill, relaxing games to play, not survival games, so things were simplified in some areas for that reason.
My first sandstorm yesterday there were aggressive higher level monsters allll over the area outside my house and near the mine. Did you roll over an EA game because they definitely are supposed to be there post-launch?
What about the stuff you carry on you, in your inventory/backpack?
