Why is stamina balance so bad in this game?
I am early game and this game seems to demand an insanely high amount of stamina per task and offers ZERO real boosts with food options. Even worse, I have to buy a food before I even know what it does. I have wasted so much money buying food thats boost health when its stamina I wanted. Hovering over items doesn't tell me anything unless I do it from my inventory. Either I am missing something, or the food to stamina ration is extremely bad. How does one deal with this early in the game? Yes I have googled, watched gameplays etc, and NO those aren't helpful when actually playing the game

There's a health and stamina regen mod over on Nexusmods. If you're playing solo I don't see any problem with them if it makes the game more fun for you. If playing MP, as long as everyone else playing is cool with it, I don't see a problem.

On keyboard the ` button opens the descriptions so you can see it when you mouse over it (on controller I press the left stick in) Honestly though... as soon as you can fish... like the second? day... build a drying rack and make dried sandfish (buy salt). Never bought food except the special of the day at the saloon.. you can do that twice. Between that and the dried fish you shouldnt have any trouble.

Stamina is 'the greater limiter.' Without it you would be able to run around and never need to sleep. If you haven't noticed yet, the ruins and 'dungeons' have vending machines you can buy heatstroke medicine from. I think there are three giving 10, 100 and 100% stamina back. The 100% is costly but after a point, you will get some much cash it wont matter. If I am going on a 'need much ore' foray I usually buy 1 or two of the 100% and whack away until I have it p-oreing out of my pockets (sorry, bad pun there).

Well.... you don't.

By far the most efficient way to recover stamina is buying potions from the ruins vendor. It's too costly in the early game compared to your profits, but later on money is no longer an issue so several potions solve the problem.

Of course, there are other ways, but they are not really superior to that. Yes you can cook and fish, but some ingridients for good stamina recovery food are only available from vendors, are quite costly and only exist in small numbers in vendors stock, limiting how much food you can make. So for all ends and purposes, just buying stamina potions saves you a ton of time and hassle, even though it is slightly expensive as the alternatives.

100% stamina potions become really powerful in the late game, for example right now my stamina is 648 due to all the friends and house bonuses, and I get to recover all that just for ~1000 gols.

I find that eating does so little for stamina that its not worth it. I will try to spend the next 6 days in game fishing and drying food, but to be honest, I would be amazed if I didin't have to eat 12 fish just to make it mean something. I have two drying racks and already bought some salt so i will go fishing

Thank you. I am using a controller and could not for the life of me figure out how to see bonuses of items BEFORE buying them. I was just guessing

This will be my last option, but thanks for mentioning it. If I can't get this under control even a little bit I will have no choice but to mod regen because the game isn't fun this way

You can recover stamina by eating food at the saloon, crafting dried meat or sitting down on a chair or couch.

It's for all purposes, the game's only challenge: making a plan on how to use the limited stamina in order to make all that's needed for the day. If it bothers you too much, you can always mod it out.

I have done all three and none of them are viable options right now. The stamina offered is absolutely nothing compared to stamina required to do things. I have no money, and have to limit what i can do due to these stamina issues. I take on commissions but like i said before, I purchased foods that dont actually offer stamina so wasted entire days in game because i couldnt even gather things.

Your stamina recharges when you go to sleep and if you go to sleep by midnight you get full stam/well rested. You should always have hundreds of stamina points (and they go up fairly quickly - I have 400+ at level 29/30) so there should never be a day where you 'can't gather'. Sure there are days when you might run in and mine up only copper ore or have a day dedicated to breaking 'hard rocks' for bloodstones, but if you are saying you bought food but had NO stamina to gather, then something is wrong.

Same issue here. Played it 40 hours and quit and I typically have no problem with Stamina bars. As soon as the release is stable, I am modding Stamina, something I have never done in all the many games I have played. Just know you aren't the only one. Many, many complaints about Stamina & Stamina regen.

As an additional comment, I haven't bought one piece of food. I did dry a few berries because I had them but I just don't use food (imo it's too underpowered). I even moved the timer on the days back to .6 speed and rarely get to bed before 7 or 8PM and yet still get a full run of ruin diving or mining along with the daily 3 build missions plus whatever 'built in' side missions are thrown up at me.

Yeah, stamina complaints have been a constant thing through EA as well and I've never understood exactly what people are trying to fit into a single day. My assumption has always been they are playing on 60% game speed and stamina doesn't scale accordingly...I tend to run out of time before I run out of stamina. Been a while now since I first 100%'d but I imagine they've only made it easier since then due to the complaints...diving back in for the 1.0 experience so we shall see.

I guess for actual tips...take advantage of special of the day at saloon (2x per day), spend *very* little time actually down in the mines themselves and just for targeted things you can't get from scrap recycling instead, and use civil corp orders to flesh out certain tedious items. Finally, just go to sleep...almost nothing in the game is on a mandatory time schedule, it just rolls forward to the next thing as soon as the last thing is done.

Sleep is your friend. Hope that helps.

ITs odd to play a game that basically tells you to sleep your way through it just so you can do the bare minimum during the day so as to manage stamina costs. How is that fun? I absolutely love the game in general, BUT stamina is just not functional for what is demanded. I get that many people LOVE this kind of challenge but I am not one of those players. I want to actually play the game, not just sleep and grind resources.
