If yes... something is missing here for me.
But maybe it's locked behind a quest? I was pretty much done with all the available story quests before todays patch.
Whoever came up with this way of doing things, gets an F.
And after saving, going back to the title and loading my game, the factory seems work to some extend. The queue is no longer marked as paused although the recycler inside does not do any animation.
I was able to produce a lot of stuff, but out of the blue it is bugged and I just can't interact with the factory panel anymore.
You plant and it will use the water on your water tank (take attention, for the first time you'll have to refil the tank a lot of times depending on how many seeds you use).
It also use the energy from my Fire-Powered Generator, so I don't know how it would work if I didn't have one.
The fertilizer you'll have to put on your rucksack and add manually, the console won't take it from the storage boxes.
If you also put the external console outside, you won't need to enter the room every day to see if some plant matured, just look at the second pannel.
Edit:
For the Factory:
With the console on your rucksack, go to the Construction Junction, select the room you want to transform and a button for make it a factory will appear, click it and confirm that you want to use a console to transform it into a factory.
Edit2:
Forget what I said, once I reload it stopped working.
We can only use one single room as factory and one single room as greenhouse. You cannot have two or more at the same time, despite being able to buy the control panel. When you place a 2nd panel, the first room will be destroyed.
Not that I would have wanted to use more than one room at first, but we're limited to the normal room size of 15x15. Which isn't much, if you start placing all the machines you have. They barely fit and it looks really cramped.
Then the factory can only work on 10 things at the same time across the board (except recycling, it has an extra page), even if you do have the free capacity. For example, if I smelt 10 bars of iron in 10 concurrent queues, I cannot have an 11th queue that cuts boards or blends some fertilizer. Because the factory can only handle 10 queues at once, regardless of overall (free) machine capacity.
And again, you cannot circumvent the 10 queue limitation by setting up different factories, i.e. one for smelting, one for cutting, one for polishing, because you're only allowed to have one single 15x15 factory.
The small size also hurts the greenhouse. 15x15 is just too small, considering that there are plants that are 2x2 or 3x3 sized.
I hope we'll see further improvements in the future, but for now it's performing worse than the Portia factory. That I didn't expect.
