How to get poplar wood?

Currently stuck in a mission that requires it, dont know how to get the recipe to get the upgrade after chromium axe

You won't gain access to the poplar wood until after you've unlocked a new area called Lab7.
Note: When you get to this quest with Logan, you should make room in your bag when they tell you to salvage some machine to gain the quest items. If you don't pick up these items in your bag, then you will be stuck after you left with Logan. So make sure the items are picked up and stored in your bag before leaving.

The recipe for the aluminium axe can be found at the Commerce Guild, but not until the game is ready for you to have it...which is loooooong before you need poplar wood (an endgame item unlocked by the last major dungeon-crawl mission.)

IIRC, you also have to upgrade the worktable to Lv3, can't remember if that's before or after the Road to Portia mission chain.

thanks! i found out i already had the recipe but it appeared in a weird order, since it doesnt specify the tool strength i didnt realize it was better than the one i had
