Is there actually a point to wearing sandstorm gear?
Far as I can tell you just do a different running animation...any negative effects?

I think it used to be you couldn't run as fast, but not sure if that still is the case.

I didn't notice a speed difference, so if there is one it is pretty small.

Maybe in 1.0 there will be a penalty, currently theres none apart from character animation covering the face.

Back around the Hey Old Pals update I think there was a penalty of about 50% movement speed. I started using a mod that lets me adjust movement speed not too long after, so I just figured that mod was why it seemed to go away in later updates.

There should be a penalty for not wearing sand gear, maybe slight blurred vision? I doubt anyone would be able to see in a sandstorm without eye protection. Slow movement should also be a thing again unless you wear sand gear in the storm.

It shouldn't be removed just because some people don't like it.
I think wearing it prevents your stuff from being blown away.

Being a firm believer in the idea that reality should be a distant second to fun, I'm for removing it. If they wanted to make it an option, fine, people like you can turn it on if they want, but the core function of a game is to be fun. If that means suspending disbelief a little, so be it.

Still, you may have noticed that not everyone wears eye protection during sandstorms. Some people just basically pull a bandanna up over their mouths, nothing to protect their eyes. And let's be honest, the bee keeper hat you're given on the first standstorm day... would be completely useless in a real standstorm.

Nah, only the sandwall upgrade does that.

Yes, there's a point. The point is to look like you're ready for a sandstorm. I don't think there's any actual benefit, though, so I continued wearing my best hat/headgear until the recent update. Now that my outfit doesn't have to be my actual equipment, I've gone back to wearing sandgear, but only in the Outfit slot.

I remember first time I played it had a use to wear sand protection as you would get a debuff without in the sandstorm. Now sandstorms are no different then any other day, so not sure why they removed the debuff as it makes completely sense that a sandstorm would hinder your movement and it gave at least sand protection gear a purpose.
