Also, no, I never see when the fish are highlighted. Maybe I'm blind or it's not obvious enough. Also it was easier for me to buy the bigger trap recipe and wait till I can build that than bother with fishing or researching the refiner for another week. I barely just upgraded my workbench. Hopefully they fix the pacing issue a bit before full release. The only time I felt pressure like this in Portia was making sure I was prepared for the travel stops. It came on quick if you weren't prepared, and since I knew it was coming, it made things a ton easier. That and I wanted to do more than Higgins.
I might just re-start a new game. I'm not that far in yet.
as for rubber there are places near the train tracks not far from the house there is rubber.
also no need to follow story to quick i got one character up to level 40 as a test before i started the story.
gosh so many trophies on my night stand.
there should be a update dropping soon they did say late may early june either this week or need other wise we are more late june.
Basic research in Sandrock: 28 items, 1 to 6 days per item, 111 days total.
The average is 4.38 days per item for Portia and 3.96 days per item for Sandrock. Research in Sandrock is actually faster, there's just more of it. In addition, you can reduce the research time in Sandrock to one day per item if you have enough data disks. You could only speed up research in Portia by 50%.
Rubber seems to respawn all 2 days.
Also a normal beginner sandtrap is rubbish to work with. Get the Upgrade machine researched and built as fast as you can - if you upgrade the simple trap twice to 'special' the catching radius and chance are both vastly improved. You can use that long before you get the materials for the better trap (which you should also upgrade to special as fast as you can).
Refining the Trap to increase its catch Radius as soon as possible becomes a priority.
I know a few playthroughs ago I had trouble when fishing right out the gate. So yeah, I get that some people are having issues.
Edit: Bear in mind that I have been fishing since EA Began.
