How many of you play rather "inefficiently"?
I played loads of MTAP, but even then, I'd still skip days at a time and not be actually producing anything in my machines and it always bit me in the ass.

And I'm doing it now, too, lol.

I'm not very far in, only just got started dealing with fixing the bridge due to the Geeglers, but I only have 3 furnaces, 1 grinder, and 1 processor.

How many machines do you guys typically have early on to continuously pump out materials?

I'm currently doing In Trusses We Trust in one of my saves.

I have 1 Recycler and 1 Civil Recycler, 1 Furnace and 1 Civil Furnace, 1 Civil Processor with a Processor in storage, and 1 Grinder. I also have a Drying Rack, Refiner, Ore Refinery, Tailoring Machine, and Forging Machine. I plan on building a Civil Grinder and a Primary Jewelry Processor when I have the time and resources. I haven't expanded the yard yet, so there really isn't room for much more.

I'm using the default Water Tank. I fill it at the beginning of the day and normally use 80 to 90 water per day, which is 8 to 9 containers.

I know that the machines I have are less than most people use, and less than you currently have. They are enough to handle commissions and slowly build up stockpiles of basic materials. I'm not in a hurry but I don't think I'm going overly slow either. I beat Yan in the first month and I'm over 5000 ahead this month, with a couple weeks still to go.
i finished all currently available content with about 10 of each machine (the primary 3-4 machine) and had so much of ore stocked and bar smelted that i completed any quest thrown at me by noon, only thing i struggled with was bloodstones because i got the refinery WAY too late

I have a downright embarrassing amount of machines going. 14 recyclers, 3 each processors and grinders, 7 furnaces, 3 ore refiners, two tailoring machines, a forge, a jewelry processor, a 20x20 plot of land for farming, and 56 dew collectors (40 regular, 16 extra crispy) to supply the water for all of the above.

Oh my! You could drain the entire town in a single day LOL My hat off to you for not succumbing to the massive "Conserve Water" peer pressure campaign. The "bill" you must have.. hehe

I have the same set-up from the start of it all:

(1) Recycler (water saver runs 24/7)
(2) Furnace (1 water saver, 1 speed, only water runs 24/7 never stopping)
(2) Grinders (same as above except hardly ever on)
(2) Processor (same as above)
(2) Tailor (same)
(1) Of everything else.

I've gobs of stored stuff in the 999's already stored like bars of metal and parts, etc., while running the above set up.

That includes enough water I'd like to request the ability to buy a swimming pool, Olympic size, cause dang it I can fill that stinker to the brim and then some. Oh, and would like a HIGH DIVE board, cause we gonna party in this desert at my place. hehe

Isn't it amazing we can dig down in the mines, but I can't even tier my property or dig my own Oasis Olympic swimming pool. /sigh one day maybe....

I finished all the available content of Sandrock with only 1 machine of each kind, and did the same with Portia all the way til the end, and it was completely fine, never missed anything.
I only play to relax, not to worry about being efficient xD
*The only one I actually thought of making an extra was the recycler, but then I thought again and was like: meh
Portia was a relaxing game but I do not understand how can you relax in Sandrock. Its more complicated and frustrating game with the annoying stamina limitations.

I normally go for 10 furnaces, 4 cutter, 4 grinder as basic setup, later on 8 recycler to keep the deliveries processed. I try to keep every producable material on initially ~10 units and after reaching that limit i increase it to 20,50,100 and so on which keeps the machines busy and doing that allows me to make the max jobs / day with ease and of course getting xp which you need anyway.
I do 2 of the major machines, recyclers, cutters, grinders, with exception of 3 furnaces, But just 1 of each of the other ones. I generally just try to keep it busy enough for the time crunch quests. But a 3rd of the time everything but the recycler/furnace is running consistently.
..... I am actualy for roleplay reasons - play slow. To be in third and second place in the builder of the year. You know...full museum collection. Sooo...Not much for efficiency just trying not to miss story bits. And when you play slow it's easier.

All those advanced dew collectors are a surprisingly good source of water; I'm a net seller of water to the town.

If only bringing water to the desert were so simple in the real world, the big dispute California, Nevada, and Arizona have been having over water from the Colorado River could be fixed in no time. Stupid law of conservation of matter in physics...

Funny because I think the opposite lol
Portia for me was way more stressful because of all the deadlines and having to rush before 8am to get the comissions before Higgins xD
About the stamina limitations, I didn't find that a problem. Yes, I've struggled at the beginning, but I guess I'm just used to how the beginnings always are in these kind of games..? What I did was just try to have a "stack" of everything (based on my previous experience with Portia, I knew better than rush in the story without having that lol), like always having the recycler running, killing many wild yakmels to get copper bars (oops!), and noticing from the beginning the most needed raw mats. I guess I'm less on the "efficient" side and more on the "planning" one?
And even tho that could sound as not very chill, the thing is that I do things without worrying about having a "perfect game", I've spent many days without completing the 4 comissions. Some days I actually got none cause I didn't feel like getting mats and went around talking to the NPCs the whole day instead. I only keep 1 machine of each because I don't really want to rush things, I'll have them when I have them, and thankfully Sandrock has waaay less timed quests :stella_hearts:

Also, they occupy too much space, I rather have more decor around the plot :guscrazy:
