So, can you even compete in this competition?
And how?

I mean I go straight from my home to where it happens and the teams are already set up

I haven't got there yet but I think you have to register the day before it starts.

I never saw a thing for registry, unless it popped up while I was transitioning somewhere

It's not at all explained, but you have to go to the drums by town hall and register a team by the day before the festival begins. You can also make predictions for a match any time before the fight begins at the same drums or the ones by the arena (you may be able to register at the arena drums, too; I'm not sure).

OK so it's the day before... well, next time then.

It's just that it's an easy oversight, didn't even receive a letter for it.

I remember the first time I got a notice about picking a partner.
Now the second time I saw that today it's high noon again, rushed there... couldn't register.

Should definitely be a mail the day before and not just some short notice.

Yeah, that was something I liked about MTaP, Gale would always send out letters to remind you of festivals a few days before. Maybe it's like this because Trudy is somewhat less organized/experienced than Gale? Or maybe just because EA.

I competed in it but I had to reload an earlier save because I also missed the registration, as already mentioned is the day before. You pick your partner then they send you a letter right away for conformation. The fights go on for 2 days. Got about 50 percent of my bets correct. Was fun to see the different groups fight it out and be surprised by some unexpectedly strong npcs like Crystal and her giant hammer who partnered with Owen.

Krystal is an absolute beast. My team faced her and Cooper in the finals (might as well have been just Krystal, seriously). I beat her each time but man, she was tougher than some bosses and most elites.

That she is! My team faced her and Owen in the finals. We won, and honestly I didn't think I had much too much to worry about but I almost lost the first round when she caught me with her hammer combo followed by Owen's punches. Good times.

Yeah. Yan kept doing his shield rush attack hitting nobody and ending up on the other side of the ring while Burgess and Miguel ganged up on Rocky. They were in the semi-finals against Krystal and Owen and put up a good fight, it went on for like 5 rounds. I really like how everyone's experience with this will be different depending on the pairings and who you pick. I mean I didn't even know Mabel was a participant. That's great.

I don't think I missed a message for the registration, and I didn't know there was one the day BEFORE the event.
Was doing a main quest and some farming, stood up the next day, exited for the showdown, only to find out I can't compete, and after an online search, I should have registrated for it...

Also, how the F does Pen lose so easily in those fights, when he's supposedly one of the strongest in town? (losing to Owen and Catori is kinda ridiculous for him)
