cant get Yan to sell more advanced recipes

I really need to upgrade my civil grinder, civil furnace, civil processor, my forge and building table. But Yan wont sell more advance recipes. How do I get them if he wont sell them

Hi - These are obtained through Research Center. Not the Commerce Guild.

If Qi (the research director) is not there or is unavailable (hiding in his room) there is a machine by the Refrigerator that can accept your research requests.

Note there are two tabs. First Tab for the More industrial stuff (furnaces, Grinders, etc) and a second Tab for the more specilised stuff (Weapon forge, Tailoring, Jewler, etc).

Also you can speed up research with more Data Disks.

no I have the diagrams from the research center its items I need to update them, dont have the recipes and Yan wont sell them

If you're saying that you want to upgrade your civil machines to industrial, then you'll need the assembly station, as well as main story quests up to a certain point. What main quest are you on?

just figured out the bounty hunter was Andi part of Logans gang. But the items I need to make the updates are chromium steel bearings, granite planks, magnesium chromium bricks, and magnesium steel blades

Then you're way too early. I think you get them when Musa shows up for the road to Portia project.

Why isnt there an indication when the recipes will be unlocked? I also have the industrial recycler waiting on recipes that I cannot find in the Commerce Guild Store, but I dont know what quests I need to finish for them to appear. It is frustrating to keep checking the store and not knowing what I am missing for the recipes to be available.

They're locked behind main quests... Keep doing the main quest line to unlock them. It would be nice if you maybe got some sort of mail, informing you of new items for sell in the commerce store once you get there, but personally, I have no issues. I dont check the store that often unless I am actually missing something for a quest.

Yeah, the timing of the recipe availability is a bit wonky, hopefully they will fix it. I have the recipes now, but I was ready for them for quite a while before they became available.

I don't know why they can't be offered for sale sooner. If you buy them but can't use them yet, that's ok. The other issue is, you aren't told when they are available. So you have to check commissions every day. If you already have a commissions board in your house, you're still going to the guild store every day to see of the recipes are there yet.

Practically speaking, the recipes should be available once you complete the mission that gives you the protection suit. Once you have that, you can get into the valley and pick up the aluminum scrap, granite, sisal, etc. And at that point, you're ready for the recipes.

Well, it seems this is still a little broken.
I was able to take a commission, which ends in 3 days BUT: the commerce guild doesn't sell the mangese steel blade recipe which i need to fulfill the commission.

That should have made clear when taking a commission, that i'm not able to finish it (or better don't show commissions which need items which are hid behind story-progress bars^^)

A good rule of thumb (I Know this doesn't Solve your immediate problem) is to not take a commision you aren't sure you can complete. Don't rely on MAYBE's or IF's. Be certain.

No matter how much the reward is, if you can't do it. You can't do it. Alot of us (or maybe just me) have been burned at times by not following that rule. Now you have too. Welcome to the Club.

The orders from the townsfolk are just that. Orders. You aren't the only builder in town.

The higher tier orders exist to incentivize you to upgrade and expand your workshop so you can fulfill better orders in the future. But it's your own responsibility to only take orders you can actually fulfil.

Just like in real life, don't apply for a job requiring you have a specialized skill if you haven't got it.
