Romance progress above first heart?

Hey

So I have gotten Arvio to be my boyfriend and it seems that I can't progress beyond the first heart. Is this because the content for boyfriend and above isn't out yet till next week?

Any help with this as I don't want to keep on giving him gifts if I'm not going to be able to progress beyond first heart.

The heart meter will move up when you've done enough to earn the second (and third, and fourth) hearts. Unlike in Portia, where the hearts visibly filled like progress bars, Sandrock is really, REALLY hit-or-miss about communicating this information to the player (devs need to fix this sooner rather than later, because it's come up on the forum before by similarly confused players.)

As SimuLord said, the heart meter will still increase, but it isn't very good at informing you. I only know if my heart/friendship increased if I get a notification on the side like "Owen Just became your buddy." or something along that line. Its otherwise a guessing game.

Yeah, I have progressed beyond buddy, friend to boyfriend. So now on Arvio only has four hearts on his screen with the first heart fully red (from what I can see.) My questions is will the second heart start to fill as well? Cause yesterday I got like 25 reputation with him and it didn't start the second heart at all.

Do I need to do something special to start on the second heart after boyfriend?

It can take about 100 to 200 reputation just to go to the next level (For non romance options anyways). Just to become BFF you need about 1,000 Reputation. Lover is actually in the BFF rank. For Boyfriend its 150-600 Reputation, for sweetheart its 600-900.

Its just most likely you don't have enough reputation yet... It can take a while to get all that ranked up unless you gift Arvio his top two favorite things once a day (It degrades if you give him the same gift a few days in a row which is why you want to swap out), also take him out on dates, and if you have the party table, invite him to parties as well, this will get his reputation up pretty quickly if you do these, of course you don't have to invite him to the parties or have them, as for that can be expensive, but it is an idea.

You can also get significant relationship gains from playing Critters. Critters can give you up to 15 points per day, and should average about 9 points, if you play as much as you can (three hands per day). If you take the social skill for Critters it gets boosted to a max of 18 points per day, with an average of about 12 points. It's well worth the few minutes it takes, especially since it doesn't cost anything.

Yeah I have been doing that. Thanks for the tip. I also realised that it does just take a bit more time for the new heart to start being filled. I thought it was a bug or something. I'm now a Sweetheart with Arvio now so all's good.
