So... hyacinth orchids are DEAD during the winter

This makes it a challenge to find them for Fang's quest.

they are in the same place in spring etc ... just hard to get flowers out of them yes ... as soon as the bridge is done and i have access to the desert i start collecting them ...

I did figure that out, eventually, after hacking at a bunch of them. More annoying was the cactus flower which can apparently only be obtained by cutting down a Cactus Flower Tree—something we're not supposed to do. That's not something I would have ever done, if I hadn't seen it in the forums.

I had the same problem, except it was for the Cactus Flower. Luckily, the mission triggered for me on Winter 2 and I only had to go back two days to collect the ingredients I needed. I keep a lot of manual saves, so going back 2 days was no problem. I thought about just waiting for Spring but the mission deadline was too short for that.

Burgess doesn't seem to care about the trees on the other side of the bridge.

There are plenty cactus flower trees in the desert - other side of bridge .. cut down all cactus's to your hearts content and not have to deal with Burgess at all on it.
