I believe it, yet the farming games with these social aspects in the end always feel.... empty
I was a little turned off at first about there being no story, but i've had a decent time exploring things in a more relax mode with my significant other.
People flocked to the area, and started digging. Many made their wealth there. This period is the one covered in the multiplayer game. However, the water dried up, and people left, leaving a few diehards to try to survive in their city. Then a new builder comes to town, hoping to make a difference. That's the start of the singleplayer game.
Both are supposed to have their own stories and quests and such, but I understand it's very early in development for the MP bit yet. I have not actually tried it.
No, we are looking for an interesting story too, not just the farming. Phone games are definitelynot what we're looking for
I understand that and I believe it will be entertaining for alot of people, but doing sandbox things in this game to me feels empty. Would be a lot more fun if we had a story to it, a goal to follow. I love how new things get introduced in those stories and interesting plots develop.
Yeah it's still early, but they decided not to add the story and completely remove it from MP.
Personally, I'm fine with no story in multiplayer mode. When my wife and I play together, we have found universally that reading is NOT a fun multiplayer experience, it gets in the way, even though we are both voracious readers. When we play together we want to do stuff, not read stuff or listen to peoples' warstories.
But this raises a bunch of questions for my wife and I, who just yesterday started playing this game. Nearly every video we watch references things that don't appear in our game, and it's thoroughly confused us. Now I understand why. We have been looking at a different game. For example, is there a "Construction Junction" in MP? I haven't seen it. According to videos and the wiki, I can start mining at the Abandoned Ruins after doing the Crane questline, except, there is no crane questline in MP.
So, while we're on the topic, where do I go as a multiplayer to mine ores? Anyone know?
Thanks for any insights or suggestions.
Other ruins, both abandoned and hazardous, in MP can be access via specific missions/commissions in the Urban Development screen. That becomes available after a triggered event with Trudy.
Here's the announcement.

The multiplayer story was shorter than the singleplayer one and the singleplayer and multiplayer stories didn't work well together because some NPCs appeared in both but the stories were set at different time periods. E.g. Sandrock's founder Martle appeared in the multiplayer story and so did her husband Mort but both were much younger. On the other hand some of the NPCs from the singleplayer story also appeared but were at the same age as in the singleplayer story. That's just some of the issues.
The singleplayer story was much better crafted and with a few months to release it would have been impossible anyway to do a new multiplayer story from scratch. If we ever see a third "My Time" game, they'll no doubt plan the singleplayer and multiplayer much differently and much more integrated and make sure both modes can work within the same code base.
